Default Painting the underside of the Cab over

On a FWC / ATC is it necessary to paint the underside of the cab over?

i figured the answer would be yes but wanted the group opinion. My ATC cab over has a weird material - i think i will paint it with white rustoleum. I'm worried that it will absorb water without a fresh paint job, living in the humid south seems pretty hard on wood.
