I was wondering about that as well. I'll have to check out the same when its closed and see if it can accomodate a thicker mattress. I found this 4" mattress. Looks like it may work.

Jason,
I've measured mine and the mattress that came with it is a 53' X 74' "full sized mattress" instead of the queen.
Best wishes,

Thanks for the dims Palehorse. Still taking notes on my options.
Heres a good link I found on another thread in a different section.

I have a old XL Thermarest basecamp self inflating
mattress that I use on top of my flippac mattress and I sleep better up there than I do at home! when its time to pack up I open the valves on the thermarest and slip it between the wide side (drivers side) of the poles that hold up the flippac tent and mattress before I close up the top, This only works if I am by myself but I suppose I could fit two of them in the bed of the truck if I rolled them up. I think two regular size thermarests would fit side by side nice on top of the mattress. Btw my flippac mattress is pretty worn out, there really isnt much support left in it. Just a thought
Some more pics. In my profile album.

After our mattress was worn out we tried a couple of alternatives and finally settled on one of these: http://www.nemoequipment.com/nemo201...-pillowtop-pad. The two person one with the two air inserts. It has a foam wedge to prevent a gap between the pads.
We can pump it up in about a minute and deflate it in about 10 seconds. Once deflated, we can store our sleeping bag and our kids bags up there too. Its not quite as convenient as having the mattress glued to the top but its easy to get everything situated on the nylon cover then flip the super light lid over.
It's not quite as wide as the original mattress but is the right length. Our The North Face Twin Peaks double sleeping bag fits nicely on it.

Ordered the full size one from amazon. I won't install it for a bit but I will let people know how comfortable it is for any future inquiries.
Robert made me a custom one for my FWC. I can lay it anywhere and fall asleep in minutes. Completely bombproof too.
