Besides the bolt on stuff and being bigger, the 100 series is practically the same setup as the Montero...
But then you'd have a bigger pig to squeeze down the trail that costs 3-5x the price of a Montero.... and will take 3-10X the money to outfit the 100 similarly to what you have the Monty setup as...

It may come down to you wanting a brick outhouse (LC) or a house of straw (Montero). I had one of those rear end me at a light - not at speed. LC, with a Kaymar offroad bumper, didn't have a scratch. Mitsui Montero Sport front end was toast. Am I biased, hell yes. I've owned my LC since new in '94. Maintenance costs won't be cheap. It was a $46K vehicle in '94.
You posted your question in a LC section, what do you expect. You'd get a totally different reaction in a Mitsubishi forum.

Lots of nice 100's for sale on MUD right now.....
IMHO - If you're going with a gasser, why not get a V-8? That gets better milage?
If your not running 37's, who cares about the solid vs. IFS debate? Not going to be doing any real crawling without 37's anyways......

One concern with the 100? Do they have the variable ride height adjustment or is that just the 200s?

I would recommend a 100 series. Add sliders and a lift and have fun. I have $800 in BIOR sliders and $500 in a lift. Replace front and back plastic bumpers after you destroy them. ;<)
