Not sure how you could be heading west and just seeing the Rockies from Grand Junction. Is there a Grand Junction, Kansas? ; )

We were mistaken, and delirious from driving through the night...haha turns out we were 250 mi out of Grand Junction and didn't realize it until after the post.

We are in and out of internet access areas, but here are a few photos of the trip so far. We have been taking video as well, which we upload at a later time. Right now we are in Moab, we are going to head to Arches National Park to do some hiking today, and then head to Canyonlands National Park tonight. We wrapped up Hole in the Rock Trail yesterday in the Glen Canyon area. That was a great trail, with some great challenges along the way, but rewarding in the end.

Waiting for the Charles Halls Ferry to cross Lake Powell and meet up with Peter's group.

We are camped out in Canyonlands tonight, and back on the trails again. We just spoke with one of the Canyonlands Park Rangers who loved our rigs. The Rangers were interested in getting ARB awnings for the Ranger Rubicons.

John,
It rained hard for over 24 hours straight yesterday. We are staying tonight at White Crack, about 34 miles in on the trail. Needless to say there are a lot of mud pits and we have heard from others coming the opposite direction that there is a bad washout near Potato Bottom. Only motorcycles have been able to get through so far, but we will see what it is like when we get there tomorrow.

When we got to our campsite we found a group of two couples from East Texas who had been trapped by the storm and were told to stay put by park rangers. They were relieved to see us and know that they could now attempt to navigate back out. They went on to tell us that they had been in a similar situation last year at the The Goblins, and after getting stuck in the sand their vehicle was washed away in a flash flood, leaving them to hike out for help. It took a Jeep with a winch, a Land Rover as an anchor for the Jeep and a flatbed to get their SUV out, which had been buried in mud and sand.

Here is what our rigs look like after the trip to White Crack.

Oh how quickly things can change, one minute we are watching the sun set, the next we are scurrying to pack up the rooftop tents and awnings because of an unpredicted incoming lightning storm. With high winds.

Waiting out the storm in our rigs on high ground. Great light show though!
