Try slim fast?
LOL
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of
arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in
sideways, chocolate in one hand, martini in the other, body thoroughly
used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO HOO what a ride!
Well, MISF still has got you beat with his Scout II, but only by about 400 lbs.....
I used to swerve around my hallucinations, now I drive right through them.

Are you trying to regulate the weight or just loading up what you need? When my trips involve a long road trip too, I do try to limit some of my heavy gear (hi-lift for instance) just to make the life of the rig a little easier.
Do you take the same gear all of the time or do you have speciality equipment that may change the weight?
Very interesting thread...

Whoa...and that is your daily driver?
FWIW, my '79 3/4t 350ci TH400 4wd Suburban weighed a little over 5400 lbs, when fully empty of any gear. I was quite surprised at that, and at there only being about 200 lbs more on the front axle than on the rear.
I need to weigh the '91.
Edited, can't do math stuff in my head

Perhaps this might help.

Oh my. That's a heavy truck.
What's your impression... based on the mods you have done, does that number worry you?

I take the same stuff every single time. Only thing that changes is the amount of water/food(depends how long we are out).Originally Posted by Schattenjager

Last time i weighed it, i didnt have a few mods done yet.. like the aux fuel tank.
Yep its my daily driver, but it doesnt get driven around with all the gear in it. Also it doesnt get any fuel in the aux tank driving around town.
My impression is that it is totally normal for a overland 80 to weigh this much. Im about the average from what i've heard from other 80 owners that are setup for expedition travel. That's why we run big springs out back with tons of capacity. So nope, not worried, its about right..
Just amazes me that this truck weighs more than my Army truck did with huge axles and 40" tires lol
This is one of the reasons why we are getting a trailer... to carry over some weight from the 80 to the trailer...
