TravelTrucks is an expedition vehicle outfitter located in Australia. Information is minimal right now, but it appears that Kym Bolton, the man who started EarthCruiser, is behind this new company. The company will offer vehicles based on the Iveco Daily 4x4. More information will be available in the coming months.

The Iveco Daily 4x4 is not just a Daily with a transfer case. It's a vehicle purpose-built for off-road use. Most of the chassis is different than the 2WD Daily. Read Kym Bolton's assessment of the Daily 4x4 here

Here's the Iveco Daily 4x4 double cab in a Fiat publicity photo. (The Maori-style graphics are part of a promotion.) The long travel suspension that sets the Daily 4x4 apart from Mitsubishi and Isuzu medium trucks is clearly visible.

The Iveco Daily 4x4 has been discussed several times on ExPo. Here is a sample

So far as I know, Chrysler has no plans to import this particular Iveco model to USA. First, we'll see a version of the Fiat Ducato van.

TravelTrucks will introduce their new expedition camper at the Queensland Caravan, Camping and Touring show, June 4-10, 2014 in Brisbane. I hope our members in the Brisbane area will attend the show and give us a report.

The TravelTrucks camper will be sold under the name "Scrubmaster." Here's a drawing depicting the new vehicle.

The new camper uses the Iveco Daily 4x4 chassis. So far, Iveco (which is a subsidiary of Fiat) has not announced plans to enter the USA market.

Information about the Scrubmaster Expedition vehicle is now up on the TravelTrucks web site

The web site linked above has many more details, floorplan, and list of options.

I sent email to Kym Bolton, one of the owners of TravelTrucks, asking about export sales and production of a camper with entry on the right side of the vehicle.

I have just spent a few days working a travel stand at the Brisbane Show and had a chance to have a good look at the 2 trucks that Ridgeline had on display. I am pretty sure the truck in the previous post was the main one on display and it is a very impressive vehicle. I have the dual cab version at home and the improvements that I particularly liked were the big wheels, double din stereo and the reduced height seat brackets. These make a great improvement on the driving position and I have ordered a L&R hand set. The Camper is a fixed unit and is very well finished throughout. I like the gull wing door and there is ample room inside for 2 people to live comfortably for extended periods. It has a separate shower/toilet that I quite liked rather than the doorway style units. Knowing just how capable this truck is from the factory, with the wheels and other improvements they have made outside, there are not many places that this truck won't go. I had a couple of good chats with Kym on my lunch breaks and he has certainly put his real world experiences into the design of these vehicles. Plus as I mentioned in another forum, they really do look the goods on the outside.

Kym and Lyn Bolton have driven expedition vehicles for 250,000 km / 150,000 miles on 5 continents. They have a wealth of experience to draw upon.

I hope someone Down Under will be able to compare the TravelTrucks camper with the EarthCruiser, which Kym also designed. Just eyeballing the photos, it appears to me that the TravelTrucks camper may be a couple of inches shorter, with a little less rear overhang.

The Iveco chassis is purpose-built for rough road and off-road conditions. The Fuso Canter 4x4 is not as rugged, but has been successfully modified by EarthCruiser and All Terrain Warriors (among others) with springs and tires that provide improved rough road performance. Kind of a moot point for those in USA, where the Canter 4x4 is the only choice for the present.

Hi All
We read with great interest there is another manufactuer using the IVECO platform in Australia. For the record EarthCruiser the company was founded by Kym and myself .
EarthCruisers the expedition vehicles were and still are designed by a very talented team of people, not to mention wonderful feed back from our many customers around the world.

The TraveTrucks Camper in the above photos is on an unmodified (ie unstretched) chassis. It retains the basic vehicle's entry and crossover and departure angles and turning circle. The camper pod is all fibreglass.
I am buying one, for delivery early November. It will have a walk through to the cab and of course the poptop, which is essential for me to be able to get it into my carport off the street. The length, at 6.15 m is a very tight fit into the carport too, due to proximity of swinging gates.

It comes with 185 Litre water tank, and I am buying the addon fuel tank increasing the diesel capacity to 250 Litre.

All up weight with all accessories, full tanks and two passengers is just under 4000 kg, leaving 500 kg for "stuff" to reach the maximum car licence weight of 4500 kg.

Wow, it looks fantastic.

Can you give a very ballpark figure on the cost? I'm about 20 years away from needing one but want to know what I am up for :sombrero:
Just a rough idea is fine, no need to give away any secrets...
