Default Thule Rack for '05 Tacoma

Been looking for a way to mount an Overland/Eezi Awn tent to the bed and came across this. There is a new adaptor for the '05 tacoma bed as well. Seems like this would be a good way to install the crossbars to mount the tent and then remove when not needed. Anyone seen or used this before? Load capacity is 450 pounds so that should be way more then enough right?

We have several customers who have used the Thule Xsporter racks and they worked out well. They are entirely capable of carrying an OverLand tent without any additional gimmickry.

Shoot me an e-mail at info@autohomeus.com and I will send to photos.

We have a lot of Toyota Tacoma owners using Autohome tents.

Here are sme pics and a link for you. I have installed 2 systems on the new taco's already. As you know the adaprtor jsut came out. The adaptor set up is good so no worries on strength.

Thanks for the pics. What's the height from the bed to crossbars when in the low position? Trying to figure out if it's too high to mount a rooftop tent on to. It may be too much weight up high.

sorry I missed your reply. I think the hieght is just about right. I would say about 10" higher then bed rail when down. I'll measure it tinight on mine when I get home. For a roof tent I think it would be great since it will keep it low but allow acces to your gear from the side. It will block your rear view with a tent but then again even if you mounted it even witht he bed rail you rrear vis would be shot based on how Scotts looks. These racks are stout too so the standard pr is all you need.

You could modify it some to change the hieght of it with minimal work. I was a little dissaponted that thule did not give you more then the 2 basic hieght adjustments but you could cut some more notches into the verticle post if ya want. Granted if ya go lower then on the new taco you will have to shorted the post off the bottom since it will hit the inside bed wall near the little side compartments.
