Google announced the Nexus 10 tablet today. It will be available for purchase through the Google Play story on Nov. 13.

The Nexus 10 sets a new standard for performance in a 10 inch tablet. The $399 price is lower than its competitors. In some cases, the competition has a wider range of options (such as a 4G cellular modem, and a memory expansion slot.) Competitors to the Nexus 10

The tablet most similar today to the Nexus 10 is the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1
..Note offers stylus and Wacom digitizer
..Note offers 64 GB storage option, and microSD slot is standard
..Note lacks the latest ARM Cortex-15 processor
..Note battery smaller, 7000 mAh
..Note prices $100 higher

The new Microsoft Surface RT 10 inch tablet starts at $499
..Surface has much lower resolution screen
..Surface has smaller battery
..Surface uses older nVidia quad core processor (just as fast, but uses more power)
..Surface runs Windows 8 RT (maybe advantage, maybe disadvantage)
..Surface includes Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint, OneNote
..Surface storage starts at 32 GB
..Surface has microSD slot
..Surface lacks GPS

A little disappointing but nice none-the-less. It would be nice if they would just rip out the cellular components of a GS3 and scale it to the size of this tablet. The support for mounting external USB storage via USB-OTG and to just drop a MicroSD of whatever size I want into the slot increases the versatility to the point where Im almost no longer willing to buy a tablet/phone if they dont provide those features.

Good to see Sandy didn't overshadow the announcements.

I have my hopes up for this one. I'd rather have a 7" but this one is going to have some sort of new screen tech that may be the brightest yet avalible. Daylight visibility is very important to me
