My thanks to and admiration of all the teams that participated, and special gratitude for providing the photos and narratives so we unworthy stay-at-homers so we could feel part of the event. Much appreciated.

Default Do Good As You Go

Finally waited out the slow Mexican internet #teamAstrid has been finding across the country and got another blog post up. This is the story and pics from our experience with the Muskoka Foundation just before the rally start. More stories and photos coming soon.

While siting at a taco stand in Bacalar we saw Liz and Chris drive by. We bailed on the tacos, jumped in the car and chased them down.
They're good and gave info on where to find Andy.
We tracked him down this morning.
I'll let him tell his own story about how his trip ended but will say he's ok and, considering the circumstances, in good spirits.

We are in saylito a sleepy little town north of PV off the beaten path. We are slowly working our way to Baja!!
The rally was great and we have extended our vacation from 30 days to 90 days . We are really enjoying all Mexico has to offer. It was nice to meet all involved with this event. I have hopes there's another one next year.

We had such great luck in Mexico, having crossed the whole country without being stopped or searched at any of the checkpoints and encountering nothing but friendly people. We must have been doing something right but I'm not sure what so I didn't want to change anything; the Maya Rally decals will probably stay 'till the end of the trip.

Isabel and I were pretty sure we'd head home after Belize but we changed our minds and continued into Guatemala.
I'm glad we did; we've found (but not sought out) miles of dirt roads, amazing views, great food and wonderful people.
Last night we even met some cops at a gas station and they gave us an escort thru town.
    Awesome!

We're still traveling with Nate and Sarah which has been great and the opportunity to continue traveling with them was a big part of our decision to continue into Guatemala.
While we're perfectly capable and happy traveling solo but it really is much more enjoyable and comforting to share the experience and know someone else is available to watch your back.
