I hope this is the rite thread. Most of you don't know me, so let me say a few things about myself-

Every lesson I learn I learn the hard way
I am a type A personality
Some would say strong headed
I grew up and living and working on a farm and ranch in eastern Oregon
I am a Firefighter/EMT/ rescue specialist as a volunteer
I also like to do things to know Im alive I love a challenge and adventure I whitewater kayak and raft, climb, Mountain bike, Hike, overland etc

I think by now you probably get the picture.

I am also a Blackberry guy, I love my smart phone for a million reasons. Yes we could debate pros and cons of other manufactures all day and night, reaching many a valid point.
However think of this like a long term review of Otter Box cases, I have been using them for 7+ years. The following pictures are from one of many times it kept my expensive phone safe from me, and the elements. It was a dark and stormy night a few years back. It had been raining all day and continued with a relentless torrent of a monsoon. All the animals and chores had been taking care of that day, the sun was setting as the dark abyss swallowed us. The ranch is located on 4,000 acres and we are the only house, 4 mile long driveway and neighbors 2 miles away if you are a great swimmer or can fly. It was about 10:00PM and i had settled down with a issue of Overland Journal to escape to paradise before bed. The dogs started barking as a ford diesel flew past the house. Since this is a rather uncommon occurrence when you live in the middle of know where I grabbed my 12guage jumped in the truck and went after them to see who and what they were doing out here. To some that may seem like a rather rash action, but remember ranch in the middle of nowhere. We had one entry and exit and lots of copper wire to steel of pivots or diesel or whatever and cases of ag thefts had been up in the recent weeks. I proceeded down the flooding road between pivots to the noise and lights of the unknown truck and trailer down in the woods. Upon reaching them I made sure to turn on all my KC lights and light up the area. I saw a ford f450 flatbed, with a trailer and forklift all unloaded and buried deep in the mud and flooding field. It all made sense to me now, well slightly. We had the bee keepers in our presence frantically trying to collect all the hives from the flood water. They move them at night because they are less active i am guessing. After apologizing for not calling first and explaining that they did not have time, they asked for a tow. So of coarse I was more then happy to help out.....ok I may have been a little grumpy about it. I hurried back to the house to grab a tractor and chain. After quite a bit of work in the rain and raising waters we got them out and headed back to town. Upon returning to the house i emptied my pockets, ammo, leather man, gloves, flashlight and wut whoa........Did i leave my phone in the tractor? Nope not in the tractor or my truck much to my dismay that left only one saddening conclusion after climbing around in the mud and water in and out of equipment it must have come out of my pocket. I was less then thrilled with myself knowing if i had just left it in the truck or used the belt case it would most likely still be in my posesion. Knowing it was as good as gone and the waters were rising I went to bed with a heavy heart. In the morning the waters had gone down quite a bit so i proceed down to the site of last nights shanagins. After much searching I found it I could not believe it!!!! Where was it, in the middle of a tire track and embedded into the ground. So I knew it had been run over a few times I recognized my own toyo m55 tracks going rite over it, along with the tracks from the tractor. I picked it up and could not believe my eyes it was on beeping and flashing low battery and 2 missed calls. Needless to say Otter box you rock I have bailed you, run you over, frozen you to the ground, my horse has steeped on you and still you never fail me. I have to say I recommend Otter Box products.

Thank you Otter Box

I dropped my iPhone in an otter box 60 ft off a manlift onto a steel grating..it survived.

I then upgraded to life proof because the otterbox lets too much dust in and I was tired of not being able to see the screen. About a week after I switched my daughter fell into the pool and I jumped in to grab her, lifeproof saved the day.

a good case is priceless. I would Like a waterproof version but lifeproof only makes cases for iphones.

On another note when in the mountains yesterday, I jumped into the rig and busted the belt clip off on the seat belt. After talking with Otter box costumer service this morning they have been great and are sending my a replacement under Warranty! :wings:

Thanks Otter Box

That is funny, I have an Otter box for my Galaxy S III and the rubber outer case is stretching and lets all kind of dirt in. It drives me nuts and I am not a huge fan.

I'm happy for your good luck! Pardon the brief hijack but I never see any reports about SEIDIO protective cases... I have one for my HTC Thunderbolt and it's been rock-solid. Although they offer them for some models, mine is not water-proof but sure can take some hard knocks.

They must have just have come out with the iPad case. I've been looking at them and trying to decide to buy or not. It might be a pretty good $99 (on sale) investment.

Kilroy, I'm actually typing this on an iPad, with an otter box case. It's my Roomates iPad, the case fits well and she reports good things about the cases. She is a teacher, special needs preschoolers and has seen them droped, thrown and steped on more times then she can count. I notice that the headphone port cover is a tiny bit to large? So it bows out slightly. Also eBay can be a great resource for cases
