Clear Coat Repair?

Hello all,

Considering the purchase of a Montero that is great in many respects except some clear coat issues.



I'm mainly concerned with eventual paint damage and rust issues.

What fixes/repairs would y'all suggest?

Any ideas of cost?

gingerly wetsand the clear coat off and wax the bajezzus out of it and it will be fine. Getting ready to do the same to my wifes daily driver which is a B5 VW passat wagon. The blue paint of that era seems to have clear coat issues..

flat black the hood with a roller and can of rust paint... Paint is only to prevent rust...nothing more

Tell me about it. My old Jeep was painted Patriot Blue sometime in the late nineties, and lo and behold, it looked like a bad sunburn ready to peel by the time I got it.
