Bed rack ideas

I've searched but can't find what I'm looking for. I just bought a CVT RTT and have a mega cab dodge . I'd like to use a bed rack to mount it, any suggestions preferably with pictures?

Are you looking to purchase, or maybe to build a solution? Lots of folks have built their own out of tubing in this style - http://www.expeditionportal.com/forum/threads/34311-2009-SEMA-Tundra-Bed-and-Cab-Racks/page2

In fact there is some talk that All-Pro may actually still produce a rack that is height-width adjustable to fit pretty much any truck. Only time will tell - http://www.tundratalk.net/forums/tu...ons-bed-rack-pre-production-3.html#post945377

And still some have used utility racks like the height-adjustable Thule Xsportster series. Not sure what kind of max loads the Thule is rated for (450lbs?) -

The Tubing style is actually what i thought i may do but since i posted that i had another idea, i may go with a commercial style cap with side doors and full rear door. THat way i have storage in my bed and the RTT on top. Ive seena few ideas like that on here and kinda dig them!

Looks like those SnugPro fiberglass are rated for a 500lb roof load, and the integrated aluminum tool boxes are rated for 100lbs each, so I wager they're plenty strong. No idea what the cost difference is between aluminum and fiberglass.

I just liked that he was able to get it color-matched to the truck so it didn't look so 'contractor'. http://www.snugtop.com/commercial.html

Whatever you do, be sure to share it with the rest of us!

It sounds like you have already moved on, but if I were to do RTT on a pickup I would do a rack like this:

However, I would make it about 50% shorter, so that the top of the tent is near level or just slightly above the top of cab. From here, some fiberglass or canvas sides would be nice to allow access to items in the bed..

I like to be able to keep everything in my bed dry and out of the elements and a shell does that for me so i will be building around the shell! If i could get a 1/2 height topper id do it!

Sweet... So it sounds like you're moving towards a sort of 'exo-cage' rack around/over the topper with the mounting feet under the rails of the cap. Will be interesting to see!

400+ views and still only the two of us involved in this dialogue... I'm so glad we've shared this 'quality time' together! :sombrero:
