Some really great setups in this thread!


Here's mine I built for my Ford Bronco II (with plenty of inspiration from this thread, thank you ):

I built the framework using small thinwall rectangular steel tubing from an old E-Z-Up canopy (this stuff becomes crazy-strong yet very lightweight when you weld the tubes up side-by-side). Floor box side panels are made from aluminum sheet, top is 1/2" plywood (hardwood) with a urethane varnish. Latches are Southco paddle units ('xept for the fridge slide, using a modified barrel bolt for that).
The whole thing is probably around 80 lbs empty I'm guessing (was hopin' for closer to 60, but the 500lb-rated Accuride drawer slides had other ideas lol).

Main drawer + fridge slide which has a pull-out shelf to place items while cooking or for working on other things:



Drawer extends for a sleeping platform



Finally the whole thing all flips to the rear so the back seats can be used. Access to contents is maintained with a 2nd door on the one unit.

That last set-up is just amazing! I havent seen a Bronco II in ages. Glad to see one still being used and for the right reasons!

Couldn't get out of the shop to install these today but here is a setup for an 80 series Land Cruiser. The side wings still need to be fitted. I'm shopping for a beater 80 for use in fitting custom setups.

Features:
1) 250 lb capacity 36" drawer slides
2) Two dividers in each drawer adjustable in 32mm increments (more can be added)
3) Stainless paddle latch / slam latch with tamper-proof stainless fasteners
4) Hinged side wings which open to allow storage along each side
5) A folding sleeping platform which, when folded and not in use, fits easily between the rear seat back and the drawer units
6) Drawer interior sized to allow one quart oil bottles to stand up and exterior height provided a nearly flat sleeping surface with the sleeping platform resting on the folded seat back

Thanks for the compliments. I'm looking forward to producing a stock line for common rigs, custom units and some pullout camp kitchens.

I'm in good shape on having an FJ to fit but I really need an 80 (even if a non-runner) to fit to. Also, a good friend/neighbor has a 4th gen 4Runner which I hope to borrow for fitting later this summer.



Yes, much less expensive. I've worked out pricing of less than $30/pair on them which is just ridiculous (good that is) IMO for a 36" slide. Of course, the average guy buying one or two pair will pay more. I've also worked out great pricing on the KV lock in/lock out slides which go up to 60" length.

I love your design! I have an 80 you could test fit on, if I can purchase the prototype!

I haven't weighed the full 80 series package I posted but that single drawer for the FJ Cruiser is around 45 pounds.

Yeah it's strange these rigs actually aren't more popular (the same is especially true for the earlier Explorer... They have some excellent underpinnings with great support too). That is all for a different thread though.
