I am set on synthetic rope in the future. The Engo can be had with Syn rope but I would like something a bit higher quality when I can afford it so I am going with a steel rope winch right now to save some cash.
I am looking at one of these winches. I cannot decide which one though.
The Engo has great reviews and can be had with steel line for $350 ish. $500 with syn rope.
The Superwinch seems a bit more proven to me due to the name and reputation. With steel line its running $500.
You cannot put syn rope on the Superwinch according to Superwinch. It seems like it has the same type of brake as a bunch of the other companies selling chinese winches with syn rope.
It seems that if you are very careful powering out you can avoid ridiculous drum temps that melt the syn rope.
I cant find as many reviews on the Superwinch but the majority of what I have read is good.
The Engo has the lowest amp draw with almost twice the line speed at 12000lbs than the Tiger Shark does at 11500lbs.
I am pretty new to winches so please let me know what you guys think!
