Air Conditioning options

I looked around on this site for a while and got complacent so I thought I would start a new thread. I am interested in building my '08 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited into an overlanding vehicle. I was wondering what people are doing for a.c. I thought about running a piece of flexible dryer exhaust tubing from my a.c. vent up to the roof-top tent but I'm not sure this would work for no less than 5 reasons. What solutions are there for cooling a rooftop tent? I can definitely deal with no option but thought I would ask. After all, some of these overland builds have showers with heat exchangers, and many other high-tech modern mods that make overlanding more comfy. Thanks in advance.

Thats a neat bit of kit. From the website it seems as though the CR-2550 would suit most of our needs for cooling a RTT. Their website says its out of stock, but a quick google search shows it retailing at $550

4.4 amps x 115 volts = 506 watts

12 volts x 105 amp*hours = 1260 watt*hours

1260 watt*hours / 506 watts = 2.5 hours

So...figure 2-3 hours run time on a 12v 105ah battery.

Prolly gonna need a generator.
In which case, doesn't much matter which a/c unit you use. Get a cheapo from the depot.
