Hi I just joined this site did post on homemade roof rack thread. I am looking for 7-9" lights to run on top of my roof rack I am building, also going to make custom bumpers then install some of these on bumper for driving. Oh yea its on a 2000 Ford Excursion. The use will be for trails or when out deer hunting. I found these on this site DHgate.com it's like Ebay but unsure if anyone has used this site or these lights I found. Here is a link to the ones I would like. http://www.dhgate.com/fedex-free-2p...813b22deb7013b2bfe38142a81.html?recinfo=8,3,2. I know they are chinese knock offs but on a budge. I was also thinking about Pro Comp explorers and converting to HID's. Thanks in advance for your opinions and suggestions they will be greatly appreciated.

Has anyone ever converted Pro Comp explorer 8" 130 watt lights to 55watt HID. I am budget and was thinking if converted won't be as hard on alternator than with the original halogen bulbs. How are the light patterns on these lights?

The Chinese cheap-n-stinky HIDs work pretty well. They've been sold under quite a few names like HIDx and even Hella's bargain-brand Optilux.
Maybe you could check with a reputable retailer like rallylights.com and see if they'd cut you a deal on Optilux; talk to Dave or Ray.

Converting a burning filament light to an HID won't yield good results since the light source is oriented differently in relation to the parabola.
Here's a great forum for asking about vehicular lighting: http://www.candlepowerforums.com/vb/forumdisplay.php?87-Automotive-Motorcycles-Included
