Thread: Tacoma Rear 9 Leaf packs...

Default Tacoma Rear 9 Leaf packs...

So, based on a lot of reading on this site, baja's site, Scott's site, and discussions with the fine folks at Demello, I went ahead and got the Demello/ Deaver suspension with nine-leaf packs to control my 02 Tacoma's shell, rack, and (suspiciously similiar to Chris') rear storage deck.

The suspension is working great and I'm really happy with it's performance, but the drivers side rear has developed quite a squeak when articulating (typically the first inch of displacement or so). I have not noticed any other comments on this...any clue as to what would be the cause? Loose U bolts? Any help is appreciated...

my leaves sqeaked fiercely when i first had them put on and then quieted down within a week or so. They make absolutely no noise now. I think its just the new bushings breaking in and getting dirty. Give it a few days and it will go away.

My 9-leafs don't squeak that I am aware of.

Can't tell if my Deaver 9s are squeaking or not because my uniball upper A-arm are squeaking so loudly.

My suspension components (front and rear) seem to go through periodic phases of squeaking and being quiet. Yea, I would just give it a little more time. Congrats on the new setup. What shocks did you decide on?

I swapped out the stock suspension for Donahoe coilovers & Camburg upper arms. I expected there to be some squeaking in the beginning, but it continued for several weeks. After a few squirts of WD40 on the upper ball joints, all of the squeaking went away!

I'm running the AllPro upper arms. They are several years old. The new ones come with zerk fittings for lubrication. Someday when I replace the bushings, I will tap for zerks. I also squirt some WD40 on things now and then when its really bugging me.

Hey Chris - went with the Donahoe coil overs, stock upper arms, and the nine leaf. Jason talked me into it - he said that I won't be sorry about how the heavy springs control the roll with the shell and ply in the back, and boy is he right

Went snowshoeing up at Mt. Baldy last weekend. Going around those tight switchbacks with snow on em .
    Solid as a rock!
