MAXTRAX, the Austrailian recovery equipment maker, is in the final stages of building their own Rally Fighter, right here in the United States. The innovative open-source vehicle compiles existing automotive components with community-sourced engineering projects—including the design of the "skin" for the vehicle. MAXTRAX and Local Motors (the company behind Rally Fighter) are holding a design competition where you could have the chance to create the "skin" for the vehicle that will be displayed at SEMA 2012 in Las Vegas, NV. Details, including a design brief and inspiration, are listed on The Forge—Local Motor's online community. The grand prize? $1050.
Submissions just opened Monday, and you have until October 7th to enter! A winner will be announced October 11th!
