According to an article recently published by Edmunds.com, the Jeep Wrangler is likely to get a diesel powerplant along with a model refresh for the 2016 model year. For die-hard enthusiasts that only means you need to wait about another two years to get the more fuel efficient powerplant in the highly capable Wrangler JK platform. We're a little bit confused as to why it's going to take that long, considering the vehicle is already sold overseas with a diesel, but I guess we'll have to take what we can get. The diesel engine used in the Wrangler will likely be the same VM Motori 3.0L V6 Ecodiesel shared with the latest Ram 1500 and Grand Cherokee. I'll be waiting patiently for 420-ft/lbs of torque, hopefully it comes sooner than later.
