If you've been looking to outfit your 2007-2011 Jeep Wrangler JK (2 or 4 door) with an aftermarket snorkel, you might want to give the new Modular XHD Snorkel System from Rugged Ridge a closer look. Before they even started at the drawing board, engineers were asking Jeep enthusiasts what they wanted in a snorkel for their JK. "When JK owners were asked online what they would like in a snorkel design, the response was overwhelming," said Matt Stanesic, Director of Engineering at Omix-ADA (Rugged Ridge's parent company) "Feedback poured in, starting an amazing interactive process between JK owners and our engineers to work together on a totally new concept. After extensive research and development, the new Modular XHD Snorkel System is finally a reality, delivering on the best of these ideas and creating a revolutionary new product."
The system moves the air intake away from the vulnerable front mounted under the position, and raises it significantly higher to just under the windshield, in a much better position. The revolutionary part of the Modular XHD system is the ability to not only run a "low" snorkel for everyday use, but the ability to purchase an optional attatchment that moves the air intake a further 21 inches higher, perfect for someone who only wants to have a snorkel when they need it most. Another great feature is that installation only requires small modifications to the internal fender flange—great news for those who are trying to avoid the major cutting that other kits may require.
The Modular XHD Snorkel System ($319.99) is manufactured from durable, heavy gauge plastic, mandrel bent aluminum, and high temperture silicone connecting hoses.
