If you've been looking to outfit your Wrangler Unlimited with a roof rack, but you haven't been exactly keen on installing an external cage to give it something to mount to—there's a chance you're in luck. AEV has expanded its line of products for the Jeep Wrangler this week with the addition of their brand-new roof rack system for the Unlimited JK that mounts to your factory roll cage.  The extruded aluminum rack is designed to not only be lightweight (weighing in at 68 lbs) but also incredibly low profile, as the entire system only adds 4" to the overall height of the vehicle. It's priced competitively at $999.99.

In the usual AEV fashion, the roof rack is designed to have a near-factory fit and finish and doesn't interfere with the removal of the Freedom Top panels and factory soundbar. A relocation bracket is even included for the satellite radio to prevent interference from the roof rack.

The extruded slats that run the length of the vehicle offer less wind noise, along with integrating "T" slot tracks to allow for versatile mounting solutions. They're also anodized silver to keep cool during the warmer months.

The rack is mounted through your existing hard top, drilling holes is required, but this allows AEV to mount the roof rack directly to your existing roll cage through the supplied brackets.

An optional full rail kit is also available as an add-on accessory to provide additional tie-down points as well as a barrier for cargo for $299
