La Aduana: BMW F650GS Dakar

E-mail Print PDF

Looking to have a bike that can ride around the world, and do it quickly? Perhaps you should be taking a closer look at the BMW F650GS - arguably one of the best models BMW has made to date. Relying on a simple 1-cylinder Rotax engine to put power to the rear wheel, it's been known for reliable service and a plethora of aftermarket upgrades. This example from 2003 with just over 8,200 miles has a lot of life left in it, and with a set of new tires being included, you'll be sure to take it far off the beaten path. It's current bid on eBay Motors is $4000, but the reserve has not been met. You can buy-it-now for a reasonable $5000.

You can find it here on eBay Motors. [link]

Here's what the seller had to say about the bike:

You are viewing my 2003 BMW F650GS Dakar. The mileage is a reasonable 8202. It has ABS brakes, Heated Grips, and 4-way flashers as factory options. I believe BMW calls this the premium package option set. I also just had Morton's BMW in Fredericksburg, VA install 2 new tires and flush the brake fluid and look the bike over. I just changed the oil and filter. Everything works perfectly. I store it in my garage on a trickle battery charger so the battery is healthy. I installed wide foot pegs and a Touratech adjustable shift lever. I also recently replaced the tall Dakar windscreen with a short BMW air spoiler. The tall windscreen created a buffeting affect using my Aria XD3 helmet (with visor). The bike will come with the original tall windscreen which is in good condition. I also have the original foot pegs and shift lever if wanted (but they are pretty worthless). I removed the factory side luggage mounts which will come with the sale. The rack is fantastic and will hold a large soft bag perfectly (I think it's by TDI). The factory handlebars sit on aftermarket bar risers and I installed a longer SS brake line. The first owner upgraded the front fork springs to a progressive type but I don't know the brand. They feel great.

Mechanically the bike is in great condition as I have cared for it properly. In visual condition the bike has several scratches on the plastic parts like the front mud guard and hand guards.

Check my previous auctions to see that I only own/sell quality bikes and gear.

I will make the bike available for shipping or you may consider flying into Dulles International Airport and ride it home. The airport is a 15 minute drive from my house.

Please email me any questions. I have nothing to hide.
