Marc,

Thanks for the plan set. I can read those just fine, so there’s no need you go to the rig and measure. That is unless you want to visit your really nice rig. ?

Nice setup.

Total miles?

OEM factory weights. GVWR, GCWR, towing capacity?

Weight Certification after conversion:
o Front Axle: 6,000 lbs.
o Rear Axle: 7,280 lbs.
o GVWR: 13,280lbs

Towing capacity of a standard Dodge Sprinter 2007 is 5,000 LB

Only 27,000 miles after camper built / conversion to 4x4 & all component updates.

Total Mileage about 170,000

Marc,

Are there additional plans in the set. The other other interior elevations would be helpful. At your convenience.

we don’t have one where the bed is but these other two should give you a good idea of the space.
Expedition Portal has a limit on the number of photos I could attach as part of the initial posting. That’s the reason these others were not included.
I have attached a photo of the big storage, another photo from the kitchen area and one from the big access to the storage from the back.

El Yolo,

it’s appears there’s been no overhaul to the engine or drivetrain, correct? While I know larger diesels are good for a service life of 500,000 miles. What does Mercedes-Benz say the say about the service life of this chassis?

Thanks,

Bill

Hello Bill

Mercedes doesn’t give an official service life estimate. When we bought the Sprinter we looked for a pre-DEF diesel engine for two reasons; making it easier to take the vehicle to South America and Asia where they don’t always have low sulfur diesel and we were told that the Mercedes diesel engines before 2008 were better/stronger than the newer versions.

In regards to the drive train, when we upgraded to 4x4, part of the upgrade was also a new Dana 60 Super mono-beam front axle, Dana Spicer front and rear drive shafts, new wheels and tires, etc…

The detailed document on expedition portal shows all details from the Whitefeather conversion and all parts that have been replaced since we bought it (turbo, intercooler, etc…)

Let me know if you have any additional questions.

Okay, now I understand the format of the post. I’ll research the Mercedes engine a bit on my own.

Thanks.

Hi. Few more questions on the build:

1. I assume all appliances including washing machine are 220V. How do you solve this problem in States while using shore power?

2. Can you provide pictures of the bed unfolded to queen size?

3. Is the custom subframe build a 3 point kinetic system?

4.Since the RV is 4 season - are all tanks (fresh water, grey, black) are inside? or heated?

5. Air conditioning?

6. Please post the picture of the cabin entrance from the RV. According to schematics it is in the shower room?

Thanks

What was your reasoning in using propane instead of keeping the rig entirely diesel powered?
