    255/85R16 VS 285/75R16

Well, it wasn't what I had planned at all, but I ran across a deal I couldn't pass on a set of new BFG All-Terrains in 295/75R16 So I will be using them to remind myself why I swore them off years ago. If I really can't stand them I'm in them good enough that I can probably even make some...

Limited Slip Faceoff: Detroit TrueTrac vs. ARB Air Locker

I'll chime in with a little experience of my own. While building my dream truck(see sig line) I chose a TT for the front and Grizzly locker for the rear. I chose the TT based on my years in the Army and loving the Torsens in Humvees. I absolutely do not regret my decision. I honestly would...

    255/85R16 VS 285/75R16

BFG "All Terrains" are know as "No Terrains" in N GA, the clay here turns them to drag slicks quickly(then again that's true of almost ANY tire) Looking at the measurement, a 285 should work to get you by a short time. Although you are right, with Amazon on standby a new tire is rarely more...

Thinking of a locking diff for my 2wd, talk me into/out of it

I'm absolutely a fan of the TrueTrac. I have one in my Ranger front, and wish I had used it over the Grizzly locker in the rear end. Grizzly works great but TT is smoother! I will never own another open diff vehicle! As soon as our 2021 Colorado adventure is over there will be TTs added to...

    255/85R16 VS 285/75R16

Studying new tires for my 1998 Expedition that will take us on a three week/~8-9K mile road/off-road trip this Sep. I currently run a well worn set of Kumho Road Venture AT51 in 285 and in reality, I have always been pretty happy with them but wouldn't mind a little more traction. Neighbor...

    Expedition Squared build

Hate to hear ya had trouble with it! Especially since I just signed a $1700 WO for a trans rebuild in my '97! I struggled with that considering that's over 50% of book value but it's a pretty nice ride that I really love, plus that's cheaper than any payment I could get on anything similar.

Cummins 2.8L Diesel "Repower" engine kit

If I can smoke 39X12.50R17s 16yo me will be extremely happy , 48yo me that has to buy replacements, not so much! o_O. The 280K mile 4.0 that was in the truck managed 11-12mpg on our Colorado trip so you can see how even 20 would have me elated! 25mpg would have me dancing!

Cummins 2.8L Diesel "Repower" engine kit

My choice came down to I was planning a very built V8 swap in my '99 Ranger and quite honestly counting the engine and transmission build the numbers were pretty dang close within $1K of the budget set aside for the V-8 swap. After much review and soul-searching I determined that...

Anybody else want a small USEABLE 4X4?

That's all I had found! Not awful bad, but I've never like extended cabs. The little stubby 4dr they first offered would be cool in a stripped version. Sent from my LG-H700 using Tapatalk

Anybody else want a small USEABLE 4X4?

The kind of people who want this kind of truck want it to keep for 10yrs or more, not buy a new one every 2-3 years. I haven't bought a new truck since 92 and since I can't get what I want I probably never will again. Oh well, no big deal. I'll probably refurb the 83 and get it ready for another...

Anybody else want a small USEABLE 4X4?

A stripped Tacoma/Frontier/Ranger/Colorado/Gladiator with 5spd would be close with very little effort from manufacturer and much cheaper than the bloated "Super off road/luxury package" that drives the price to twice what I owe on my modest, solid built home. I don't need a super computer to...

Anybody else want a small USEABLE 4X4?

You literally ignored everything I pointed out! You have failed the reading comprehension exercise for the day. Nowhere did I mention Landcruisers or diesels in the quote. Sent from my LG-H700 using Tapatalk

Anybody else want a small USEABLE 4X4?

From a manufacturing standpoint I disagree. Most manufacturers have everything on hand to produce this. All Jeep needs to do is offer the Gladiator in a stripped sport model and they could easily be in the 35K range. Nissan, Toyota, GM and Ford all have base model trucks near 20K throw a...

Anybody else want a small USEABLE 4X4?

If a CEO says shareholder value is no longer their main objective then they should be fired immediately! If I find out that any company I'm invested in has made this "Pledge" my stock will be sold immediately! I am a capitalist through and through. You wanna do good with YOUR money, that's...

Anybody else want a small USEABLE 4X4?

I've often said "The world's revenge on the US for kicking so much booty in WWII was to keep all the cool cars/trucks/motorcycles away from us" I guess it goes back to the old "Want what ya can't have" thing. I have made many idle threats to have my buddy(import/export guy) bring me something...
