    Overland Mod Casita Axle

Sorry for slow reply. The tongue extension was an Orbital Machine Works product, unfortunately only a few were made. The one I was lucky to get was a later bolt-on model utilizing the original hitch to tie it together.

    Overland Mod Casita Axle

For those interested in what a 17' Casita can be safely made to carry its; 4 MTB's and a TW200. The tongue weight with a half fresh H2O tank is 725#'s and almost 4K# on the axle hooked up and loaded w/a WDH on a CAT scale. The extended tongue and 5200# axle on 4200# leafs w/shocks handles it...

    Overland Mod Casita Axle

FWIW, it tows well with the T-Dub on the stern w/the help of a WDH. I concur with this method and am very happy with the WDH for the reasons quoted, particularly the sway control. The shop I worked with to strengthen the frame and swap the axle recommended this route. Partially due to the...

    Swing arm suspension?

FWIW, I too wanted to upgrade the torflex axle that was undersized for our Casita but, not wanting to do a cabin off frame build. I considered or wished for the above mentioned trailing arm and Timbren but both would require either a complete new frame or sub-frame. The solution we went with...

    Overland Mod Casita Axle

The leaf spring conversion w/a heavier 5200# axle on 4200# springs is the prefered way to go and the one we went with after the initial Perfect Casita lift and shock kit try and finding the weight was 3600#'s on a scale. It's currently riding on 265 x 16 E rated Coopers with plenty of...

    Casita Offroad Conversion

As I recall the axle & springs run about $500. Wheels and tires are whatever you desire. We had a bolt on axle originally so it was an easy take off. The extra steel to strengten the frame wasn't much. Hope that helps ya out.

    Casita Offroad Conversion

It is sitting on a standard axle with tallish shackles attached to some extra steel surrounding the original channel frame for reinforcement. The tires are admittedly tall but will hopefully "float" thru soft sand.

    Casita Offroad Conversion

A stern view of the lift program. Some old school rubber fender flares are on deck for install with mud flaps tucked up and under to keep things tidy. The wheel wells got a heavy hit of bed liner to protect the gel coat. The new TV will get a triple or quad reciever hitch upgrade mod to carry a...

    Casita Offroad Conversion

We started with the OMW's 3" lift w/their shock kit on a "high lift" axle on our 2013 ID, it was very well engineered, a snap to install and improved the ride program smartly. However, when Larry @ LHC mentioned if all the OMW's offerings had been installed including the 18" super cool tongue...
