Just got one
We're getting a tank average of 22 (lots of stop and go on our 3 mile commute to work). In Oregon we can see trip averages of 30. On Idaho freeways it drops to 28.
We have a 28 ft Jayco (7000 Gross) that we'll pull from Idaho to Sisters Oregon next month - I'll post back up after...
Catching up
My son passed away almost two years ago now and we've gotten ourselves together enough to finish off his Scout and are nearly ready to make runs to his favorite places.
Within the next two weeks all this will be finished:
Front and rear D44's completely rebuilt, Spartan up front...
That there would be an International Scout model 80. Removable bulkhead and roll up windows put it near the end of the run, say '64 or '65. Stock it'll have half a 304 v8 (straight 152), t90 three speed and a dana 18 transfer case. Axles are probably Dana 27's with 4.27 gears front and rear...
Love it
Not driving a Jeep I wasn't really into the other trailers.
But this I would buy in a heartbeat and have the local shop build a heavy frame for it to go on.
Will be watching closely for it to come to fruition.
Depends on where I'm going. Most of the time just one spare.
Certain locations known for slicing open sidewalls though and I pack my 2nd spare. I'd rather not have to depend on my sewing ability to stitch up and plug a sidewall.

I put together my own system (I was doing GIS work anyway) and it matched the navigation feature set for hundreds $ less.
Now I just use ON.
Lot's of good reasons posted above.
I'd add "It's a style"
It cracks me up when I'm looking for a set of skinnies to shoe my IH with and I see mud tire ads that include the words - "Aggressive Styling". You know half those tires will never see so much as a gravel road.
Got one of those for free from a friend and used it for several years. Tried to get new poles from Wenzel but the support gal on the phone said "Sir, we haven't made those for 30 years".
Made my own poles but now that I see yours I see I did it wrong. I'll have to forward your pics to the...
And nothing but respect for the build. I've been watching many of the trailer builds and this one is the closest to the ideas floating around in my head.
