    Thinking of my first 60

I daily drove a 60 I in Colorado a while back, it was a great vehicle. Others are correct, the only cure for FJ60 fever is more FJ60. However, I wouldn't drive one today (especially in higher altitudes) without an engine swap. I know the 2F rivals anvils and wrecking balls in terms of...

    hiking boot for rocky terrain

+1 for the Asolo TPS line. I've also worn the Flame GTX for lots of "hiking" in Afghanistan, and even in hot weather the performance was great. The only downside to the Flame (and the Fugitive as well, I understand) is the soles wear more quickly than similar boots. I have worn Danner, Salomon...

Take a Land Cruiser to war?

That is a cool truck. In this configuration though, the GMVs we used would have been more functional. Tough trucks. http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ground_Mobility_Vehicle

Take a Land Cruiser to war?

I think if they had a traditional ignition switch, and doors that would stay open, the 200s would have seen more use. They ALWAYS went on PX/Green Bean runs, though.

Take a Land Cruiser to war?

I had two armored 200-series Cruisers (4.5 turbo diesel) when I was in AFG last year. They were good for runs through areas (RC-E) that had low levels of kinetic activity, and were mostly comfortable. The armored plates required some interesting interior modifications, and played hell with the...

where are the Porsche cayenne expo builds?

I do know that Arnott makes bags (reasonably priced IMHO) and a coil spring conversion kit for the Touareg and Cayenne.

    Touareg

I did a correction with 2 Garmin GPS units, which I figured were accurate enough. The speedo was registering roughly 2.5 mph slow.

    Touareg

Believe it or not, I've never experienced any significant rear suspension sag when fully loaded. There was *a slight bit* when towing a 6k trailer, but none when loaded for off road travel. The steel suspension on mine puts up with a good amount of weight, way different than my old FJ60 did...

    Touareg

I have 2004 that is very similar to AirJammer's rig, it's even the same color. With 265/70/R17 BFGs, the Treg has been through some thick stuff and performs very well. The 3.2 VR6 has to work a bit (especially when towing 5-6k trailers), but with the 6-speed auto there is very little drama...

    2011 VW Touareg announced

I've got one of those 'problematic, unreliable, underpowered, no off-road capability' 2004 Touaregs. It's been [WAY] off road, towed trailers up to the max rating, and really reliable for 80K. I'm able to do most of the maintenance on it, not unlike my old Land Cruiser. Different strokes for...
