    Looking for a DD/Expo vehicle

I bought my 1998 4Runner in 2018 with 340,000 miles, it now has 400,000. I send in oil samples at every change, no wear. Basically this engine will not fail from wear, but from metal fatigue.

    Storage/sleeping.

I don't cook in, but sleeping in the back of the 4Runner is so much nicer than a tent. No worries with stakes, no flapping in the wind, no wadding up a wet tent in the morning, no leaks in the driving rain. Just park, take off shoes and get cozy. In the morning just start up and drive away.

    Best 4Runner Under 8K? late 90s, early 2000s?

It's all about perspective. Coming from a 1st gen 4Runner my 3rd gen is SOOO much nicer and long trips are much more pleasant. Not as much fun as my FR-S, but it's a truck.

    Griffin the 1999 T4R Build

I drive with cruise control constantly. With Texas speed limits of 75 mph or 80 mph on I-10 out west there is no way I can even get 19 mpg. Even my 22re 2wd 94 pickup on little highway tires rarely does more than 22 mpg. Now if I hold my speed to 60-65 and become a rolling roadblock my MPG's...

    Gas can kill.

I was amazed at the number of rigs carrying fuel on the trails around Silverton/Ouray. You are never more than 20 miles from gas station in that area. Did they all drive through the Yukon to get to Colorado?

    Griffin the 1999 T4R Build

Is it just the highway tires or do you drive really slow? I have the same vehicle on very mild A/T's 265/75-16. The best tank was 21 MPG. Mostly it's 17-18 MPG.

    2017 TRD Pro Tacoma

What kind of autocross were you doing to be making a 3-4 shift? In years of autocrossing it was rare to even get into 3rd. Most cars will do 60mph in 2nd.

    Complete Newbie to vehicle modification

For Big Bend just load up and go. I've done the Old Ore Road in a Dodge Neon. Black Gap is the only one I would not try solo with 2WD. A compressor will be handy so you can air down for the River Road.

    Rotopax?

No real explanation. It just never shipped. They offered to send me one overnight but I told them that was not necessary.

    Rotopax?

I got someone on the phone today. They refunded my money and are shipping me the container on the house.

    Rotopax?

The company, I'm calling the number listed on their website. All I get is a recorded message and my calls are not returned.

    Rotopax?

Did they go under? I ordered a water container on April 2. Got an email with a FedEx tracking number on April 3. The tracking number just shows that FedEx received the info. They never picked it up, it was never in transit, needless to say I never got it. Numerous emails and phone calls to...

Opinions on rotted body, decent frame 1st 4runner

Run away unless you just want a project to teach yourself how to build a vehicle from the ground up.

    Roof campers? Please explain

Hmm, Canada is a lot cooler than Texas or Central America and you are coming home to let it dry. What about on the road for months in Central America? I got the trunk carpet wet in my car in Louisiana once and the smell would knock you out for months afterward.
