No I didnt. It came from the factory that way. It was very common for the older vans up until around the early to mid 80's to have a sliding door. They were very troublesome especially now trying to find parts for them.
I appreciate you throwing a hand up. I remember back when I found your site with your build on it. It was great reading material and it is still there. This van came from Las vegas with not a speck of rust so it was an excellent candidate for a conversion. And I appreciate the kind words.
Hi Jay,
I have emailed back and forth with you several times over the years. Yea I still remember you said you didn't care for the red. I showed you a picture of my older van a few years ago. I wish you hadn't gotten rid of your rig. It was pretty cool.
I'm making a lot of parts for these vans...
It was a nice day here in Indiana today, so I took the opportunity to finish wiring the safari rack and hoisted it into place. Still have to clamp it down. I used 1/32 neoprene under the mounts. The yellow is tape holding the pieces in place. Here are some preliminary pictures.
Very familiar....you would have to find you a pedal cluster but those are around everywhere here in Indiana. Convert it to hydraulic clutch though.
My name is Jason. Glad to meet you. Would be glad to help with advice if you needed any.
Here you go man...
