Overland Volkswagen Type 181 (aka Thing, Trekker, Safari, Kubel)

They are fairly capable vehicles for what they are. The air cooled part is nice plus with their light weight they do fairly well off road with just a little patients and encouragement. I'm getting anxious to get a build plan together and see what I can do with it. If yours is stock It might...

Brass or Teflon for Lunette hook swivel?

Good stuff guys thanks for the input. This will be home built so I think it would be better to start from scratch. I knew there was a better poly then teflon but couldnt remember what it was called. Thanks for the bearing and HMWPE suggestions. I will check them both out.

Brass or Teflon for Lunette hook swivel?

I have a need to make the Lunette ring swivel. In doing so is it best to use a brass shim, Teflon shim, or both in between the compression surface? Maybe a sandwhich? This will be added to another assembly so the swivel rings on the market now just wont work for me, hence I need to fab one up...

What are you using for stabilizers/levelers on your trailer with a RTT?

Old school manual camper removal jacks... Lots of travel and can easily be shortened if necessary. They are also very handy when and if you need to change a trailer tire. Rtt yet to be mounted.

Need help to I.D a trailer

It's like everything else... Finding the right buyer and the right project. But I would think it would bring 12 to $1,500.00. It could be duplicated but in today's dollars it would cost $2500.00 minimum to build it, Buy it for 15 and restore it to the color of the truck you would be coming out...
