  • Yeah Pierce900 I do have some info for you....

I have imported a 1977 Nissan Patrol to the USA. First thing, make sure you get a title for the Patrol. Whatever they use for a title in the country of origin will do. Without it you can not get the truck registered and titled here in the USA.

Most customs agents do not know that a vehicle 25yrs or older is expempt from DOT & EPA laws. Thus they may need to be shown this.

For your first import I would reccomend that you hire a broker in the country of origin for the truck and also in the USA. This will cost you maybe $500 total but will save you a lot of headache and leg work. The broker in country of origin handles export and in the USA they handle import. They will make it very easy for you on the first import. All you will have to do is show up at the shipping company with documents in hand and pick up your truck. It is worth the $500 or so the first time you import a truck.
