Engine brakes are good things on rigs this big.

    rear hub swappin?

The rear axle is narrow, the adapters fix that problem at the same time.

    UJOR Build Thread

I really like the setup and agree with the idea of outdoor camping. It kind of works like a teardrop camper, but for tall people ;) and off road :D

Timeshare expo rig!!!!! That would be epic and nightmare all mixed together.

"Push Button" 4wd in an e350 - Lovell 357 or other

There have been a few people here that have relocated/built manual shifters that were completely out of the way. I have old man's disease (can't remember sh...) so I can't say who.

Buying & Building a Medium Ambulance into an RV – The FAM-BULANCE

West marine (and I suppose a few others) sell 30 and 50 amp manual selector switches that are really nice. I am still contemplating 2 or 3 way--As you have pictured but with a grid-tie inverter tied to the panel (to get surge capability to start a normal AC) or a 3 way with the inverter as...

    portable heater for boondocking?

Running the Honda with an electric blanket and/or space heater is a good option if you want power anyway. I have an EU2000 with an external fuel tank and it is time to change oil before the fuel runs out.

Current cost of adding a Sportsmobile Penthouse Top to used van?

OK, I see my sarcasm/exaggeration didn't come through right. Twelve was an extreme number to make a point. Adding ONE kid to the equation (like zuren just did) makes a huge difference on the space and priorities. Poptops are expensive real estate--there are much cheaper ways to solve a bed...

Current cost of adding a Sportsmobile Penthouse Top to used van?

And that is the route I would probably go as a single guy or just a couple. But not as a big family. Show me a van than can seat and sleep 12 and I will reconsider. Like you said, to each his own.

Current cost of adding a Sportsmobile Penthouse Top to used van?

I started down this route, too. But stopped. For the cost of the poptop I can buy a school bus and convert it to a full fledged RV.

Body type and finding an oil leak

Well, that is one thing that is easier on a van than a truck. My son has the same problem but much bigger puddle on his F 350 and it is impossible to see to diagnose. You can do it from the driver's seat.

    Das Bus

Yes they can!! E-series buses are actually some of the more expensive ones in the used market. But u-joint doesn't have a 4wd kit for a Bluebird school bus. Getting it insured as an RV and the title/DMV saying it is an RV are two completely different things. You got lucky and Ford listed...

    UJOR Build Thread

You can put a spacer between the rear wheels, but not recommended if you have already put in a pattern change spacers. You could get custom dually rims to fit the H1 tires, but that won't save you money unless you plan to burn through a lot of tires.

    Salem Kroger conversion hubs

Yup. They are 2" thick chunks of billet steel that bolt to your axle then the new wheels bolt to them. Only bummer is you may have to cut down your existing studs. Ujoint has them and Fred at wheeladapter.com can make them. I would trust either one. DO NOT BUY ALUMINUM ones from fleabay...

    Salem Kroger conversion hubs

Better option IMO is it switch to 170mm all around. You don't want to have to redrill wheel bearings in the middle of nowhere. Ujoint has the spacers for the rear, which fix the track issue at the same time. It will cost you a new set of rims and tires, but worth in IMO.
