    Tire size question

I guess I could crank the torsion bars a little more too.

    Tire size question

I just found on tirerack that stock is 245/70r16! That is a full 3 inches shorter and an inch narrower. So, I guess the question would be whether I get levelling keys for the front, get a lift kit, or get smaller tires, unless someone has a good idea that I haven't thought of.

    Tire size question

I have a 2008 Suburban 2500 that used to be a border patrol truck. I am still getting to know the truck a bit. It was riding really rough and noticed that the front was riding higher than the rear. I assumed that the torsion bars were cranked, so I backed them off a bit and it now rides level...

How much do you cram into your roof?

I'm in the planning stages for another epic road trip. I have an 08 suburban. This trip will be about 30ish days on the road with the wife, 4 kids, and a dog. We will be doing everything from camping to going into cities starting in CA, going to Maine, and back. We are planning on going without...

    International 4700 Ambo build

I just wanted to say that your build is inspiring. Thanks for sharing it. I've always wanted to have a similar project, but that will have to wait until the kids are older.

    Tent Air Conditioner

Another idea I have used the following setup before and it works great. There is actually a company that makes them for small airplanes, but it is really easy to do yourself. You need: 1. A cooler 2. A heat exchanger 3. Sump pump (12v) 4. Fan You essentially make a circuit. You need an intake...

    New trailer build

Hey, I teach high school, so my intelligence gets insulted a lot. :) No worries there. Everything you mentioned is good. I think I may need new/stiffer springs. The shocks on it are cheapo shocks, so that may have something to do with it.

    New trailer build

Well, life has been busy, but I have the trailer in functional condition, or at least I thought it was. I loaded it up with camping stuff, which I know is not much weight. The trailer looks almost overloaded now, and it wobbles like crazy. Not sway I don't think, but it rides like it is really...

    Electric Brakes

I just bought an axle with electric brakes and am having some trouble wiring it up. I know that the wiring on the truck is good, and I even checked the wiring from the connector to the axle and I know that it is is getting a signal from the brake controller. However, the brakes won't engage and...

    New trailer build

It's funny, I actually went this route because I'm a cheapskate and thought it would be cheaper than just buying a 5x8 enclosed utility trailer. Then I got sucked into customizing it and I get the feeling that before too long I will have as much money into it as I would have if I just bought the...

    New trailer build

Having the summers off give me the opportunity to do family road trips for several weeks. After a few years of cramming a family of 6 and a smelly old dog, camping equipment and more into a suburban, I decided to rehab an old toyota truck bed trailer I found on craigslist. I already started but...
