    Scout camper feel too heavy?

Just picked our Olympic up the other day and put it on a 2nd gen Tundra. 1275 lbs empty on the tag. E rated tires, Airbags, 3" lift. Drove great up I70 in CO. No problems, no swaying, etc. Got a little rocking forward and back on some weird pavement bumps on the highway. Pretty bad mpg on...

Reality of cargo trailers off road?

Bought this trailer recently. Can't take credit for the build, but it is pretty sweet. Used it on a recent trip through Moab and Sedona. Worked out great, needs a few tweaks. Flipped axle provides decent clearance, probably more than the truck till I put a lift on the truck. No problems...

    RTTs on Fiberglass toppers.

Sorry for the slow response, forgot I posted here. I believe that I had the 100XR model with pop out side windows (windoors). I highly suggest the windoors, and slider tracks on the roof. Just lined coolers and food along the rails and you could reach right in and grab stuff. Super convenient.

    RTTs on Fiberglass toppers.

I had a hardshell RTT on my fiberglass Leer on an F150 for a year and drove on some pretty rough roads around CO and UT. No problems whatsoever. It was mounted onto Thule Aerobars on tracks. Slept 2 people up there. I was pretty worried about the weight because there's no info on the...

Tarp for sleeping in the back of a short bed Tacoma?

Definitely a good contender, but their pricing sure is high for half a tent. Looks well made though. Thanks

Tarp for sleeping in the back of a short bed Tacoma?

Yeah, this is pretty much what I'm looking for. Maybe even without the awning which requires tie downs but I guess that would be nice. And yeah, I know a tent is always an option, I own a few, but sleeping on the ground gets tougher with age and marriage. Plus camping on the ground in some...

Tarp for sleeping in the back of a short bed Tacoma?

I bought a 5' bed Tacoma TRD OffRoad. I planned on putting more money into it and getting a GFC camper or a trailer, or a RTT. However, in these times of economic uncertainty (Covid-19) I'm putting that on hold till things settle down. I'll probably just get a fiberglass topper, ARB or Leer...

Need help deciding, Why a Tacoma over a full size truck?

Just traded in my 2013 F150 for a new Tacoma TRD Off Road. So let me justify my decision: Main reason was because I already had to replace the Ford V8 engine (not covered by warranty Looooooong story) and the tranny was seeming like it was starting to slip, and the 4wd was shifting funky. Just...

Topper or Bed Rack for RTT?

I have an F150 with a RTT on a topper, so I'll chime in for the fiberglass topper side. I got a Leer with side opening windows and built in Thule rack with aerobars. Mounted a Blackfin hard-top RTT that pops straight up. I like that it just looks like a large Thule box up there and doesn't...

    Thule Hideaway, any reviews?

Nice, that's much better info/pics. Thanks

    Thule Hideaway, any reviews?

While searching for a new awning I came across the Thule Hideaway. They sure are proud of it ($799) but not proud enough to put very good pics or vids of it in use. Does anyone here have any experience with this awning? Looking to attach it to some Thule Aerobars on a F150 with a RTT.

Here is an interesting DIY Pop Top Camper Adventure Truck

I think brushing snow off is a small price to pay for having a nice, insulated area to hang out while it is set up. I have a buddy who has a slide out camper that has the same problem, he now knows that he has to brush off the top before pulling it in. I'd love to have one of these on my...

What are you using for a coffee maker and coffee brand when camping/overlanding?

Aeropress with a jetboil to boil water is my personal use setup, since a) the wife quit drinking coffee, and b) I'm usually up before everyone else and need something to do. The aeropress makes a good cup of dark black syrup so that I am sufficiently annoying to everyone else by the time they...

Anyone try these "generic" hardtp RTTs?

Well, I the Blacken RTT that I purchased has developed some small cracks in the roof. I believe that these happened during shipping as there was a small scratch in the roof when it arrived, which I wrote off. Now I noticed two 8" hairline cracks. I emailed the company so I guess we'll see how...

Anyone try these "generic" hardtp RTTs?

I got a Blackfin on Ebay. Exactly the same but green fabric. Used it a few times and no real problems or complaints. Pops up super easy with gas pistons, a little tricky to close but that's mainly because it is high up on my truck. Ladder that comes with it is kinda chintzy. Has a 2" memory...
