Nitro Gear - Project "Big Dog Burban"

10-4, I've never tried to put long-tubes in on a SAS Chev, I just knew they fit with IFS and couldn't really see why a SAS would create less room. Regardless, I'd also be interested in seeing some shots at full stuff, just to see how cramped it gets.

Nitro Gear - Project "Big Dog Burban"

Weird, you had to replace the entire front end to "show up the Ford", we just used what Henry gave us....

Nitro Gear - Project "Big Dog Burban"

Y'don't say. I have a hard time envisioning stuffing a solid axle up that far with 37" tires, but regardless, you mocked it up and it didn't fit in your application, who says they're not bumping the axle further down than you?

Absolutely love the low ride height on this thing. Looks great. Mccustomize, I know I've installed long-tube headers on stock IFS 4wd trucks before. They fit, so I would imagine with the shaft now going down to the axle, there's even more room.

Ventilation will be key too, both for O2 levels, and for condensation. You should have no problem keeping it warm, also -depending on the heater you're using, keeping the bottle within the heated area may be an option and then colder ambient isn't an issue at all. Propane boils at -40. Keeping...

FJ60 LS Swap - From Oil Burner to Gas V8 - Stoffregen Motorsports

Looking great. You'll need 2 02 sensors minimum to run the engine. Right near your elbow out of the header in a convenient spot would be perfect. If there aren't any cats to be installed you won't need the downstream pair, and you can have the ECU flashed to compensate and run it problem free.

FJ60 LS Swap - From Oil Burner to Gas V8 - Stoffregen Motorsports

Thanks for the thorough response. So basically, "just because they're that much better"; I'm a big fan of V-bands too, they really don't have any disadvantages, that's why we use them OEM on diesel stuff. I like your method of sleeving the tubing too, like you said, makes it a lot more of a...

FJ60 LS Swap - From Oil Burner to Gas V8 - Stoffregen Motorsports

Yep, GM powerplants are awesome to work with. Simple as rocks, parts are everywhere, and parts are cheap. I always liked AA's products, great to work with. As enjoyable as being a production tech is, I miss custom work. What was the reasoning for v-bands at the collectors, vs a standard 3-bolt...

    Emergency Valve System

Saw these a few days ago. Looks like a great, quick solution. I can see it being especially useful for SxS and ATV users, where the bead is much more difficult to break and you likely don't have a spare tire.

    1994 Ford Explorer Build

Love this truck. I will be stealing a bunch of ideas for the new family hauler. Nice and simple and useful. Any plans to cage it? You must be gettin' pretty quick in the dirt by now...

    2006 Mazda B2300 Build Thread

Glad to see you're out having fun! Good to hear your spacers haven't worked loose. Also, if you didn't know, the Moog aftermarket uppers have a replaceable balljoint, so you can do just the joint for around $70, rather than $150 for the whole arm. If you don't have a spring on your whip, be...

Overland XJ Build. Not my first Rodeo.....(video included)

Looking awesome. WRT the hot water issue, when we camped at our remote cabin, we'd just fill a basin with hot sudsy water and a basin with hot clear water, and wash dishes like you would with 2 sinks at home... No need to keep the hot water running, fill 2 basins and carry on with life. Just my...

    2001 Ford Ranger Build Thread

They're brighter in the foreground, but they don't throw usable light as far. Baja Designs and the Vision X "light cannons" are the only ones that have optics to really pitch the light downrange. But that's a conversation for a different thread. HID conversions work well, or retro them for 100w...
