I saw the Smittybuilt rack (Defender). As you said, the rear mounts to the rear glass hinge bolts. I'll have to take a look at my hinges. I don't know if there is access to the "bolt" that holds the hinges on the inside, or if they're molded over. May be a good way to go as long as there is...

For sure the Rhino Rack is a great system. I've seen them first hand. The cost is a turn-off. And, I'm not sure how much longer I'm going to keep my 2015 JKUHR. Worthy consideration though. Pics are great.

How did you fasten your indexing pin to the aluminum z-track? Did you just thread in through the alum with some glue? Given not a lot of thread engagement, have you had any issues? Building mine now.

I plan on doing wood on the tailgate also, but I think I'm going to inset the stainless trim. We'll see how it goes.
