After much research I decided I wanted an Elocker for the rear of the GX. This, like many other things for the GX was not an easy thing to find. The rear differential is a Toyota 8" ring, 10 bolt with 33 shaft and 30 spline axle. The ARB air locker part would have been a RD132. That was easy to find. I came across http://yotalockers.com/ and found they sell the Harrop Eaton Elocker from Australia, part number A9334. I got in touch with Ward from yotalockers and got it ordered. Ward's customer service was exceptional and he went out of his way to make sure I got the right part and on time. My local installer was Ken from http://gearinstalls.com/ so Ward shipped the locker directly to Ken. All I had to do was remove the 3rd member and take it to Ken for the set up. I had the option to ship it to Ken with a quick turn around but I opted to take it to him to save on shipping. With the part on the way it was up to me to remove the 3rd member. This was not a difficult job. It took me about an hour to remove it.

After the car is jacked up and supported and the tires removed, drain the oil from the differential then proceed to steps 1-9. One thing to note is I did not have to remove the brake lines. I used snips and cut a notch in the the square retainer the brake lines went through to slide the brake line up and out.

Once the axles are out, I removed the driveshaft. I used two 14mm open end wrenches to loosen the nuts. I would put the transfer case in neutral to rotate the driveshaft to get best access to the bolts. I match marked the drive shaft to the pinion before removal. You will need a piece of wire or bungee cord ready to tie up the driveshaft so it does not fall to the ground. It took a little persuasion from a rubber mallet to separate the driveshaft from the pinion but it wasn't hard to do. Now remove the 10 bolts and washers from the 3rd member. I used the floor jack under the 3rd to break it free from the gasket and then to help lower it to the ground because it is heavy!

Once he was done it was a matter of putting it all back together.

The test drive was completed, no leaks and no issues. Next step is to install the switch and wiring. This will be super easy, everything I need came with the locker.

Bringing this thread back from the dead, found it from a Google search. Any updates on the GX? How do you like the Harrop locker?

Thanks for bringing it back! I will post some more pictures soon. I have made a custom rear bumper/tire carrier, rock slider and skid plates. I love the harrop elocker. It performed flawlessly during my recent trip to Moab. I have also added a 1" body lift to fit 285/75r17 tires which are near a 35 in height.

As you can see from the pics I custom made a rear tire carrier that, as far as I know, is the only one that opens with the rear door. Patent pending..
I'm in the process now of making a integrated roof top tent like the alucab Icarus. I made one for my daughters jeep and I am working on my own now.

I've also custom made a set of skid plates. 3/16" steel that covers from the front to the transfer case. I'll post some pics tomorrow.

Awesome tent setup on the jeep. GX470 is looking good. I was looking to make a similar swing out/tire carrier. Looks great.

BTW - where did you get the snorkel from? Sorry if I missed it in threads before.
