FWC; major design changes, issues, and value?

Yea, venting the heating system to outside is obviously the right answer, I should have said that. Cooking with propane, or any open flame inside, will raise dew point, which is not good. Pick your typical summer evening in the Ohio valley or Mid Atlantic, and the dew point outside is already...

FWC; major design changes, issues, and value?

That's a simple (good) question with a not so simple answer. I've thought about this quite a bit since this thread started. Here are my thoughts. Condensation is caused by one simple thing, the surface reaches dew point temperature. Dew point temperature can be reached by either lowering the...

Custom truck camper, let's talk materials

Good point, I do plan to put Sikaflex 221 between sheets and frame, which should give decent protection if I get good coverage. But then there's the rivets. They have aluminum head and steel shaft.

    2015 F250 Gasser, week points

Any real week points of the 3rd generation SuperDuty 6.2L gas trucks, that need addressing before light multi-day back-country exploration and camping? I don't plan to rock climb or go where others never have, but I won't be afraid of a few feet of water, 4-5 days away from civilization, dirt...

FWC; major design changes, issues, and value?

Thanks, and I agree, talking to actual owners is always the best. And I have. I also have WTW bookmarked, and well used. :)

    Awning tent?

The ARB is in the ball park! I'll need something a bit taller (around 7-8'). The CVT awning goes to 7', closer! I'd would really like it to wrap around a corner, might be asking too much. Good start.

Yep, something like that, with walls.

    Awning tent?

I don't want 'just' an awning, and I don't want an RTT. I want an awning with sides. When folded/stored It can (should?) need to be mounted on top of a vehicle (SUV, truck cap, truck camper, etc). I'm not looking for a lightweight solution, but a way to expand (somewhat) livable space...

Custom truck camper, let's talk materials

So assuming 1"x1" or 1"x1.5" square steel tubing for frame, what thickness would you folks use, 16ga (~0.06"), 18ga (~0.05"), other? I think I'll buy a small amount of steel, aluminum, rivets, etc and see how well a panel ;(with seams, edges, maybe a bend) turns out.

FWC; major design changes, issues, and value?

I've been shopping for an FWC (likely Granby). Seems they are the 'in' camper right now, and used ones demand a premium compared to other brands. Some research says one flaw with FWC's is their insulation. Significant thermal bridges causing condensation (in an environment that encourages that)...

How hard could it be? My home built pop-up camper project

Looks nice! I've been considering something similar. I'd be interested in: - Your source for the fabric and fabric type - How did you attached fabric - What did you use for the frame Thanks!
