Hard-Sided Pop-Up Camper by Hiatus Campers

I would be really interested in something like this pop up hard sided wall system for the roof of an expedition truck like the Isuzu NPS or Fuso Canter 4x4... Seems much better than the current soft sided options. Good on you guys for thinking outside the square and creating something new.

    Slide outs in expedition vehicles

Saw this slide out on an expedition mog yesterday which I thought was interesting, looks like this one has stood the tests? Any idea what sort of a system it might use?

    2020 EarthCruiser?

So I had a look at two Iveco based Earthcruisers yesterday at a show. Again, I could not see the value in them at 300k+ But then again the Aussie Blissmobil guys wanted $290k for a 13" Blissmobil unit, let alone the Unimog it was sitting on. I personally just don't see it when companies can...

    Slide outs in expedition vehicles

Hi guys, Not sure if this is the most appropriate spot to post, but it seems as though slide outs are pretty much never done on expedition vehicles? I'm just wondering if the additional weight and complexity in offroad vehicles makes them hard to implement well, or if noone has been crazy...

    2020 EarthCruiser?

That is an insane amount for what it is in the end... 50k truck and $300,000 for the little box??? I'm glad they are doing what they are doing now though, and if people are willing to pay for it then I guess they are funding research for the rest of the builders to copy in time...

    Hino 300 4x4

Do you guys think with the stiffness of the chassis a torsion free subframe may not be required?

    20ft container DIY

Thanks guys, very helpful re:subframe. I really wish the expo builders in Aus weren't ludicrously expensive because I don't particularly want to do this all myself lol.

    20ft container DIY

Thanks everyone, it's clear that the container wouldn't be amazingly suited :) I think it would be easier and cheaper to Fab a frame if necessary, but I'm leaning towards it not being necessary now. I love the idea of the BlissMobil being a 20ft container and being able to be shipped, but at...

Question on your Australian travels - Vehicle selection and what to do?

Hi Guys, Bit random, but we are planning a big trip around. Have previously done shorter trips such as Gibb River etc. We are really stuck choosing our vehicle/camper type for the trip. We have narrowed it down to three possibilities: - Large 2WD motorhome towing a small 4wd - Large...

reality check on a few concepts - Liftup Roof & Drop down Side Verandah + Levelling Jacks for MR truck

Hi Guys, I am still in the fantasy/planning stages of a DIY expedition build. It's to be lived in full time by my wife and I, our 3 year old toddler and 2 dogs, so we don't think an Isuzu or Canter based light truck build will cut it, we really want at least 20ft of container length + outdoor...

    NPS travel truck build

Fair enough. I was thinking of outsourcing cabinetry or diy bunnings or ikea so the finishes are decent probably much heavier though...

    20ft container DIY

Hey everyone, has anyone thought about or tried drop down decks to give heaps of outdoor room? Sort of like this but just one side - with an awning or roof over the top and fly screens creating an outdoor "room" https://www.containerbuildgroup.com.au/wp-content/gallery/stingray20ft/0.jpg We...

    20ft container DIY

Awesome thanks guys. Thanks to your advice I've targeted my research more and have found some people in Aus that do CNC cut RV shells using board, including things like steel tapping plates and conduits. They look quote easy to put together so I'll move on to the next stage, outfitting!
