Unimog 1300L composite body camper - replacing damp plywood and re-sealing

The box looks way too big for the chassis. The amount of work involved to try to save it is not worth it just going by those pics. I would write off the box and start again.

    Mercedes-Benz 917 AF Renovation.

Two pages from the MB 917AF owners manual. Adding gasoline to the diesel fuel is acceptable for cold weather operation. What you do when the temperature changes rapidly or how a Webasto would handle the mix I don't know. What I found really interesting is the % allowed!

    Mercedes-Benz 917 AF Renovation.

When you buy a home in Ontario that has oil heat, the home comes with a full tank. We have 800 liters of heating oil and we intend to change away from the oil furnace, so burning it in Webasto will use some of it. Winter diesel is treated to reduce the temperature diesel jells (wax forms), or...

    Wall construction and insulation

Your vapour barrier should be inside the insulation. That air gap to the exterior aluminum is the perfect place for condensation and ice formation, followed by water damage . Bite the bullet and go with the spray foam, unless this is just a cheap short term build.

The big problem with the lifts is they stop you from installing a cab/cabin access.

    Spare wheel winch/lift/crane -ideas, please?

He can't roll it into the bed with a camper in the bed! A shovel is a great tool for levering a tire into installation. That ELS system looks slick, should be able to use that idea.

    Mercedes 1222A.. The beginning!

All six of our batteries are outside in a similar position. Freezing is not an issue for lead acid as long as you keep them charged. Our batteries are in sliding trays, this makes watering easy, I suggest you make sure you have access to your leisure batteries for that purpose.

You might want additional protection around that awning, something sticking out like would have been ripped off our truck many times!

Battery banks and RV windows, worth it?

I would suggest double glazing is not worth the money when you consider the percentage of window to wall, as long as the wall is well built and you can live with some condensation on the windows. Citing Earthroamer's windows as high end is funny since until recently they were using European RV...

    mercedes VIN Number

By the way, the euro VIN system for heavy trucks is different to the north american VIN. When we imported our 1993 MB917 Canadian customs "ran" our vin and declared it was a 2001 passenger car ineligible for import. We had to get a document from Daimler Germany identifying the vehicle details...

    Looking for advice and wisdom

I also see you are from Texas, probably the worst place in all the Americas for a slow rig., especially around the oil fields. Lots of high speed single lane, but usually straight and easy to pass, also wide paved shoulders. Once you travel further away speed will be a non issue.

    Looking for advice and wisdom

Of the two choices I would say trailer. Pushing a Mog to 70 mph is not the best idea, it is stressing everything to the limit, if you can get tires rated to 70. I think you over estimate the danger of the speed differential. The speed difference actually makes it easier for vehicles to pass you...

    Mercedes-Benz Unimog Doka, H-Zulassung, Expeditionsfahrzeug

Kind of funny that the seller is looking to trade for a Sprinter. Less money? its $94000US and you still need to see it, pay duty on it and ship it and jump through a ton of hoops (some on fire) before it is imported to the US.
