XPCamper goes out of business, files for bankruptcy?

I genuinely believe that many fields entry level work could suffice with a 2 year degree or tech school rather than four year degree. It really seems to me some systemic changes need to take place to improve the outcomes of the system. If I could go back and do it all again I don't think I'd...

XPCamper goes out of business, files for bankruptcy?

I see this as a problem with several sides. First, I'm no financial expert but it seems to me that inflation is more of the problem for most as wage growth has really not matched the pace of inflation since the 60's based on some studies. While wages have gone up for many, their buying power...

Switching my life to "not Jeans". Can I get some recomendations for good NON JEANS

Figured I'd try to give a decent real world review of the two newest additions to my not-jeans pants collection. I recently bit the bullet and ordered a pair of the TAD Agent XC chinos and the Off The Grid Surplus Trailblazer 3.0 standard fit pants. Both were more costly than my go-to Levi's...

Photos of mid-sized vehicles - Post Here

My new to me 17 ZR2 diesel. Was a lease trade with 23k miles and perfectly clean! Picked it up on Saturday and had it in the trails on Sunday. I have a few mods in mind to suit our camping needs and may tow a small camper on family outings, but this thing is nothing short of amazing in stock...

Skool_B the 82 Vanagon Build and Adventure Prep

Absolutely a must to regear! We don’t need to cruise at 85, but 65-70 should be no problem with the taller gears. Will be replacing 3rd and 4th gear as part of trans rebuild. Crazy part of all this work is that transmission rebuild will cost more than we paid for the van! Love it though...

Skool_B the 82 Vanagon Build and Adventure Prep

We’re really looking forward to the boost in power over the 1.6 na. The FAS kit uses an adapter plate mated to a water boxer transmission. They provide a single mass flywheel and input shaft for use with a water boxer clutch. Really nice looking kit, has awesome billet oil pan too...

Skool_B the 82 Vanagon Build and Adventure Prep

So I have a minor update. The deal with the AHU fell through, but happened upon a 01 ALH with 70K miles for $736 shipped. After weighing the pros and cons of the ALH vs AHU, I decided to go for it. Still thinking MTDI using the Rover pump, which should actually be pretty easy to get mounted...

Skool_B the 82 Vanagon Build and Adventure Prep

Not too much in the way of updates just yet! The last few months have been busy with outage projects (7x12's) at work and the holidays. I have been busy planning for the next round of upgrades. The first being a better setup for interior storage. I did manage to build a frame for a kitchen...

Is there no one building a Titan Diesel?

IdaSHO, I did check my numbers... I pulled my data from here http://https://www.ford.com/resources/ford/general/pdf/towingguides/17RV&TT_Ford_SuperDtyPU_r2_Sep29.pdf Fords trailer and towing guide, specifically the truck camper section that lists the maximun cargo weights. The numbers given...

Is there no one building a Titan Diesel?

While there have been some reliability issues with the release of the XD, most seem to have been limited to tuning and DEF systems. Overall almost all brands have teething issues when releasing new models, why expect the Nissan to be any different. No OEM is immune to that, so I'd dare say its...

Campervan to Truck camper - anyone done it?

We've been toying with the idea of selling our VW Camper and moving to a truck camper or trailer. We would really like to make the truck camper work, but recognize that there will be trade offs. We recently purchased a new 17 Titan XD diesel to replace our aging 04 Tundra and would be using it...

Skool_B the 82 Vanagon Build and Adventure Prep

Hi all! I'm Kim and I have vehicular ADD.... I've built a few different vehicles over the years and have gathered tons of great info from this site, so I figured it was past time to do a build thread for at least one of them. I figured I'd share some of what I've shared over on TheSamba...

Pics of your VAN! Post up!

@Roaddude - thanks for the encouragement! We really love the Vanagon, and think it is one of the greatest platforms out there for travel, just maybe not four a family of four for a year on the road. I know that there are others out there that have or are doing it so maybe we're being tempted...
