Air brake canister 1993 917 AF

It really helps to have the correct part number. Do you have an online way to determine that? There’s 2 sites that are like mini EPCs. MB in its great (lack of) wisdom seems to have made EPC itself totally unavailable to private individuals, at least in North America. If anyone reading this...

Air brake canister 1993 917 AF

MB USA is absolutely useless even with vehicles that were sold new in NA, i.e. U500. Hopefully they’re reading this. Contact parts, Neil Webster, at Merex in Gaggenau, Germany.

    Bronco Portal Axle kits

And they make CTIS very easily added. I can personally attest that along with very deep gearing in lowest gear and all around diff locks, it’s a fantastic anti-stuck/self recovery tool, especially with internal beadlocks.

    1959 GMC Adventure Bus Build

Maybe, but your numbers are still a bit low. The drivetrain difference alone is more like 12-1300 lb. The trans alone is 360 lb. . Don’t know how many people you’ll have but I carry 440L = 966 lb water in my 16’ camper. Fuel is 7.2 lb/gal, you’ll want 60-100 gal so more like 1000 lb for fluids...

    1959 GMC Adventure Bus Build

What’s your estimate of total fully loaded weight and weight distribution? Remember that whatever you estimate, add ~20% What’s the gvwr on the vehicle? My guess is that something with more load capacity than 37x12.50R16.5 would be good.

Good choice on transmission. What type of rear axle? There’s probably a NoSpin for it. https://www.eaton.com/content/dam/eaton/products/differentials-traction-control/nospin/eaton-nospin-application-guide.pdf

Air Locker for a Diesel MT45 Panel Van Camper?

Isn’t the OP talking about a 4wd conversion?

Unimog Camper - construction never stops :)

I too put in an Empava, only 1800w. But I seem to recall that testing it in my house it boiled 2L in 5-6 minutes. I was happy to remove the 2x30 lb propane bottles (50kg total), making more room for rear storage. Replaced all 5 123 or 130w solar panels with new 190s, upgraded solar charging...

    Is anyone here from Perth?

I was in WA in 2010-11 with my U500 Unimog camper. Lots of exploring and amazing places. Rudall River, Shark Bay/Cape Range, Pilbara etc ad infinitum.

    2023 Ford F-350 Power Take-Off and Pro Power Onboard - 2KW

I believe the “factory PTO” is just a SAE standard 6 bolt PTO outlet on the automatic transmission. Almost all recent self respecting manuals (NV4500 & 5600, ZFs, Getrags) seen in recent full sized pickups had such, I believe Allisons even the little 1000 have them. Once you have the PTO outlet...

Air Locker for a Diesel MT45 Panel Van Camper?

Even in a SWB BJ40, having a rear Detroit wasn’t a problem in snow and ice (for 5 months in my area) as long as it was in 4wd. I often see what I must call imbeciles driving 4wd pickups in Anchorage in the winter fishtailing all over the place because they think it’s being a sissy to use 4wd in...

Air Locker for a Diesel MT45 Panel Van Camper?

If it’s a Dana 80 there’s a Detroit Locker for it. Just saw a great demonstration of the desirability of locking rear axle in my front yard. A 2wd International with highway tires belonging to a tree cutting service deposited about 2.5 cords of logs that came from a neighbor’s yard (spruce bark...

    Bimobil EX480 Mercedes Atego 1023

It’s not clear where you live and where you intend to use the vehicle. I live in a sparsely populated area of North America but have traveled extensively including across Canada, across the lower 48 once, again through the western states doing geology field work, Baja, but also all over...

    Recommended habitat box builders

I had them build a 4.8m camper on my new U500NA in 2006. Still going through gradual improvements of all sorts. It has >100k miles and has been to Mongolia and Australia among other places. Hopefully start out to Southern Africa next year. Depending on world conditions.

What’s wrong with an induction cooktop? I was very happy to replace my propane cooktop with a $300 Empava induction. Got rid of 55kg of propane cylinders containing the same explosive energy as 250 lb of TNT. More room in rear storage compartment. 5 x 190w solar panels and 4x210ah batteries...
