285/70R17 or similar "33 inch" pure winter tire

In the city I drop my psi on the duratracs to 25... makes a huge difference. If I were to hit the hwy for any period of time I would crank it back up to hwy pressures.

285/70R17 or similar "33 inch" pure winter tire

We are running 285/75/16 studded Nokian LT3's on our Tacoma.... essentially 33's. I'll be swapping them over to the FJ for an upcoming trip (same bolt pattern and size I currently run) for the added highway safety. My duratracs are great, but there's no comparison to a studded snow tire...

I guess keeping it closed to keep heat in at -40 would not be very feasible then?

*SOLD* Fully Loaded 2020 Mission Overland Summit

Did you use it in the winter? How did it do? Assuming you have a heater in it? Is it a propane heater or diesel? Are the walls insulated enough that when you heated the camper the walls didn't sweat? Thx.

    4x4 2004 Toyota Tacoma - Rear Bumper/swing arm

I've been looking around too for my wife's little 2002 tacoma.... Coastal Offroad has a DIY rear bumper with a rear tire carrier option. I've done a bit of research and from what I could find most if not all were happy with what they ended up with...

It seems like most are just going on established roads/trails and are never in a position where they would need to be recovered..... Anyone here do any actual wheeling with one?

The lack of rear hitch and/or recovery points makes me hesitate as well.... would slapping on a recovery point, on something not designed for one, end up twisting the whole thing in a recovery situation?

Question for the guys that have gotten custom modifications done to their initial build: I would need essentially rock sliders around the whole exterior and sturdier fenders. Would Mark be able to accommodate requests like this? Is there enough structure there to accomplish this? Can you...

    Winch technique

Anchor vehicle: In neutral with your foot on the brakes. If that's the vehicle with the winch... you can also increase the RPM's a bit to have your alternator produce more amps and reduce the amount drawn from your battery.

Rotopax / Fuelpax expansion in the sun

The rotopax handles can also break when trying to screw them on or off. Check your handles periodically and keep the threads oiled. I had a handle break free from it's threaded rod end and had the aluminum handle come off... leaving the threaded rod still on. I now keep an extra handle in my...

270 Awning... Driver side or Passenger side?

Yeah, that's my biggest concern.... my trails are very tight.... I use limb-risers and the whole nine yards..... I have yet to get an awning but it's only a matter of time.

270 Awning... Driver side or Passenger side?

I have a CB antenna on the driver side of my rear door hinge.... so I THINK I'll need to put it on the passenger side when I buy it.... the door also opens on the passenger side.

Tire Deflators - What Do You Use and Why?

I use the ARB deflator... works well. I also have a very small kit in my glove box with extra valve cores and the tool for replacing them. Everyone should have extra valve cores since they are so small and easy to replace. I haven't had a valve core go bad on me yet, but I've given valve...
