Bed is 43"x76"
we sleep with our heads to the rear and when i did build i made the rear shelf area even
with mattress so as to have arm and shoulder room.
As a couple who have spent many a night in a small backpacking tent do not feel crowded.
Window came with inner frame that requires inch and half walls i deleted inner frame
removed edge gasket and used sealing putty instead then pop rivets to mount.
Since the blank door area is some sort of plastic it was easy to cut.
Whole job was less than an hour.
Can see out from drivers seat...
A few years back we did a small ford transit connect van into a week end camper

Went back to a toyota 4x4 with Northstar pop up camper, happy for awhile until the
new full size transit came out ,had to have one did a conversion very...
Putts; I have a engle frig/frez came with large wire basket.
To make it more usable i found another wire basket had to cut down
and spot weld to make correct size, doing this it fits inside larger basket about half way down
found that if i put a rubber shield on the bottom of the basket and...
Dam putts,i'm loving yor build then you get to kitchen/food storage and off the rails you go.
All your great cabinets are going to look awful after a very few trips, don't even mention
dirt rough roads.
Your can/bottle storage are going to leave marks every where.
Solution,measure all your...
Seems to me it would be more feasible to post pictures than to expect people to pm
you for pictures.
I've had northstar"s in the past nice campers.
Too many campers out on the net, people want details and pics!
Looking back on you build and reading about dust problems you said you plan on using
roof vent/fan to build pressure.
have you driven with vents open yet?all they do is flap and will soon crack.metal one are not
quite as bad.
Suggestion even though they add some height Max air covers do...
Hearing you say your getting dust on back roads and looking back in your build it seems like
its going to be a bear when you hit some of the desert/baja silt pits that you will run into with the door you have.
The only recourse short term to close all your vents turn your heater to high vent to...
Sand, i might say we never got stuck but it was not to be.
Van had duel rear wheels so if i was not to lazy and would take time to lower psi it would do pretty good
as long as you made sure you stopped facing downhill! being old school we also had a wood burning stove.
Engine was 292 inline six...
Just finished reading your build and will be following it tell your on the road, then i hope you keep us
van lovers updated.
I've had a lot of rigs and the only one i still miss is our 1972 chevy van.
Don't worry about weight we put over 150 thousand miles on ours all over baja and mainland...
word to whiners
Why would anyone care what someone sold something for
or what someone bought it for.
Some people are just happy to dispose of something that brings back good/bad memories.
Example i sold a custom Provan 4x4 at a very low price, why? because at the time we had
ford transit tc
We had a 2013 ford transit loved it for what it was.
No problems as long as we had it, great mpg.
I have a build posted on this site some where.
Only thing that was a bother was the trans searching for gears
in hills etc.we lived with it and got kinda used to it...
headroom, no problem (for us)
Maybe it is just me but as a old guy 6' tall i do not have a problem with my vans height.
Van-2016 148"wb mid roof ford transit 150 converted to camper van.
As someone who has had a lot of camper vans i knew what i was in for with new ford.
My design has passenger...
a couple of transit inside details.
the transit was a replacement for our northstar camper.
the northstar had a nice feature that i copied for the transit.
under bed storage adds a nice storage pod and access to area under bed.
to keep weight down low i did not add upper cabinets, but built 2...
a couple of more items and answers.
Marley, the finished height from floor to center is 69".
Brian 94ht, the rear windows have covers that are held on with velcro, also have a
spacer that keeps the doors slightly open but also locked for safety and air flow.
solar system (200 watt) is separate...
keep the bugs out
as we do a lot of desert camping (hot weather) we always have to consider bugs and heat as we sleep
many nights with doors open, plus we travel with a cat that we have to keep under control.
on this van i sewed up a screen set up for both the sliding side door and the rear...
things i had to transfer.
1. engle frig/freezer.
2. 2 100 watt solar panels.
3. sink and fittings.
4.catiylic propane heater.
6. deep cycle batt.
almost all hardware, wood, laminate, insulation i had in shop (never get rid of anything i might use!)
a couple of more for dcguilly.
roof has 2- 100 watt solar panels.
there is no doubt the new transit can hardly be compared to e-series,it is a complete different van.
yes i had a e series.
more to come later.
wood steps between ribs,1/2"foam, 1/2" plywood, vinyl to finish.
