Only recently been following your build. Great stuff. I've got a 3rd gen cummins and am considering similar upgrades. The thing that drew me to yours was the focus on long term reliability, while avoiding the bling, i.e. still preserving the, um, aesthetic, of the 2nd gen. I realize I'm...
Finally received the crosswing just before Christmas, about 3 months later than they’d originally promised to kickstarter backers. It arrived in a thoroughly mangled thin cardboard box, with no apparent added padding. This has been reported by several others. i received the optional anchor kit...
Been thinking about this too, but wondering if I really want to block incoming solar heat in winter. Which brings me back to thinking about a removable option, preferably one that attaches to exterior since you don't want to heat up the arctic tern frame by scattering heat from the interior. I...
well, i was imagining they would attach w velcro (?) and just roll up and stow when not in use. But im sure someone has more clever ideas.
You mentioned you attach perforated vinyl to the tern shades. Does this just roll up with the stock shades?
So in summer you recommend opening the windows...
Huh. the bulk of the frame is external to the reflective surface, so maybe heat is scattered outward, including onto the frame? maybe?
Anyway, a standalone insulated reflective and reversible cover would be boss.
Does Arctic Tern monitor this forum?
True that. They have no bulk insulation and the reflective side is directed exterior. Which is fine in summer I guess, but in winter you'd want coverings reflecting inward.
I'm a big fan of the Aterra's interior, but yeah, the cabover is pretty confining. Mattress just 3" thick, but on Froli springs, so maybe not too bad? Still, I'm surprised that the under-bed storage is so tall, given the tradeoffs with cabover headroom and mattress thickness.
For my money (or...
Curious what happens to his partnership with OEV when he starts selling slide-ins? Even though the Aterras are hard-sides, with all ATO's other offerings that's slicing the pie pretty thin.

The Kimbo was always an interim solution for us. Its been rock solid, and we've enjoyed using it, easy to modify and comfortable under a wide range of conditions. We bought it in April 2021 from orig owner in Bend who...
Appreciate the feedback. I'll have to do more research on the durability of various flex panels on offer, but am encouraged by NOPEC and 2.ooohhh experience. Regarding heat induced FRP-foam delamination, am looking into that. But I do note that TC provides instructions for flex panel...
Yeah, that’s a fair point. But my roof is 2” thick foam composite (TC), and it should be easy enough to make a standoff with say 2-3 mm of air circulation between the roof and panel. Would still be much lighter and lower profile than rigid.
Again, does anyone has experience with these panels?
So what changed your mind about flex panels?
Im mostly interested in them for weight savings, keeping a low profile on roof, and avoiding branches and stuff getting under the panel, which is common w rigid panels.
Anyone have experience with these? Am especially interested in performance and durability, since they’re flexible. My intended use is roof of truck camper.
