    SOS - steering problem LR3

Well, *I'm* not doing anything.... my LR3 is happy and healthy in my garage. My buddy on the other hand....yeah, he's going to have to deal with it one way or another. I haven't heard anything new from him so I'm hoping all is well.

    SOS - steering problem LR3

Got an update from Mr. Yukon - looks like a combo problem. He did have a wheel bearing going south making the noise when turning. He also has a bearing going out on one of the belt driven accessories, though he has not yet isolated which. Wheel bearing is in-bound at some expense (I guess...

    SOS - steering problem LR3

Sand sounds like a good bet, getting into a bearing somewhere is my guess. In this case not likely the wheel bearing since he can get the noise in park, but maybe it's slowly eating an idler or the PS pump. Ted, this is Drew I'm talking about. He's on his way back down from deployment in AK.

    SOS - steering problem LR3

yeah, already had him check on the mounts and he reported 0 movement. Apparently he's now getting a faint bearing type noise all the time and it's getting worse. Not sure which pulley is the source. He's still suspicious of the pump but could be anything on that belt. He's sure there's no...

    SOS - steering problem LR3

Just got a call from a buddy on a road trip back to California from Alaska. On the way down he stopped to play in some dunes somewhere in the Yukon territory. While playing he missed a big dip/ditch and hit one side of the front end pretty good but didn't notice any damage. Nothing visible to...

Gotta keep that battery topped up so you're ready to come out here for the Western Rally. :)

    Project Victory_Overland 08 LR3 Build Thread!

I admit I haven't dug back through all 18 pages, but... Did you down-size the brakes to fit these BMW wheels? I see the Oz thread, but most of their trucks are diesel so have the smaller brakes already.

NAS LR3 build with an overseas twist

Good battery. If you're running an adjustable DC:DC charger to it check the mfg's charging profile...I know their Gp31 had a rather odd requirement to get the most out of it and the stock Rover alternator/regulator did a poor job of maintaining them. I forgot you had done the coils...guess...

    Western Rally

We'll be there! I'm leading the Rubicon people in on the pre-run in my D1; the wife is coming up directly in the LR3. Your registration does include on-site camping, though there are off-site areas you could stay as well. Those who prefer not to camp can look into the various lodging...

Your loss. Pretty much when I hear somebody start talking like that I can assume you have no idea what California is really like. It's not all LA or SF. So how about you leave your politics behind and try having an open mind? Nobody's asking you to move here, join a hippy commune, and take...

    Western Rally

I'd love to see you down here! I'll be there with both my LR3 (wife is driving it separately) and the D1 (coming in via the Rubicon)

I don't know who all is coming up from SoCal, but I'm sure you can find a few folks to caravan up with. Although coming up 5 or 99 is likely your fastest route (depending on where exactly you're starting) 395 is FAR more interesting/scenic.

It's a typical marine canvas track. This one is aluminum where most of the boat stuff is plastic, but you can get it in lots of shapes/materials. Here's one example: https://www.sailrite.com/Awning-Track-Aluminum-48 I don't have any pics but will see if I can find some. Any marine canvas...

    Frontrunner swing away

magic dust and pixy wings :) Actually if you look closely to the bottom of the tire you can see a bit of the mount. I'm afraid I haven't used that specific part so I don't have any pics to offer.

    Western Rally

OK, who's going to the Western National Land Rover Rally in the Sierra? Should have trail runs for anybody from stock to rock crawler. Even doing a pre-event run on the Rubicon for the more adventurous. If you were at the first event in Sedona, you know it was a blast. This one should be...

    lr4 on 33" tires

FWIW, I got my spacers from those guys as well several years ago. I don't think they list the 3/4" size any more, but the spacers do fit well and are nicely made. I also see the prices have gone up since I bought!

Mounted the new wheel arches today. Do not believe the vendors who claim these give enough clearance for 37" tires on a 5" lift. I'm running 5" springs and 1" body lift and while this would be fine on the road (heck, I didn't have any rubbing with my stock arches on the road) it'll rub heavily...

LR4 Everywhere – a family adventure and build thread

Old post I know, but for future reference (because I know you'll be coming through here so often...) the interesting stuff in Walnut Grove is on the other side of the river. You know, other than my place anyway. :)
