    Home brew mobile antennas

I'm still using store bought antennas, I was playing with a halo design on paper then changed jobs and don't have as much free time.

    Storing and organizing camping equipment

No time to read the whole thread so if this has been mentioned sorry. I use old lateral file cabinets I scored from a company that was closing down. Pro's; drawers are better than shelves, on shelves what I need is always in the back and I have to move stuff to get to it. keeps stuff out of...

    62 vs. 80 interior size

The wife and I have discussed this at length, our impression is our 84 60 series "feels" bigger than our 98 100 series because the doors and rear windows are more vertical.

12V Compressor vs HP Air Tanks - Pros & Cons?

FWIW I could have paid for a couple of high end electric compressors with the money I've spent on CO2 over the past 7 or 8 years.

    The Goony Bird

Update This year we did an axle upgrade, not by choice. The factory axle finally bent which resulted in chewing through all three tires. The springs had also assumed a shape closer to "W" than and arc. I had a shop do the work because of time constraints and all told it was over $1200 for the...

Comet CSB750A - time to replace an antenna

Another vote for Larson antennas. I've destroyed every Comet antenna I ever owned except the SBB-1 rubber duck I use in brushy country. The two Larson units have stood up great.

    Home brew mobile antennas

As I mentioned in the OP this version is made out of copper and certainly wouldn't stand up to trail use. In the first post I was thinking of "mobile" as in moving from one location to another, not necessarily for use while actually moving. As is it would make a nice compact antenna for use in a...

    Snow Peak Addiction

My son just got GigaPower backpacking stove, we tried it out last weekend and it performs great. We made hot drinks and boiled water for a couple of dinners plus made tea and breakfast the next day. I think we still had enough fuel for at least one more meal left. I was very impressed with that...

Accident and Roll Overs with trailers. Including the other guys fault.

I rolled a 22' Travel Trailer on I80 in the Truckee area. I'm not sure what exactly happened but we think a strong gust came down a side canyon and started the trailer rocking, that combined with a rough stretch of road and she tipped over on the side. Luckily the hitch and safety chains broke...

    FUll-Size Spare or Not?

I just plug the tire on the vehicle and re-fill it. Lots faster and usually safer than changing out the spare on the trail.

    Help with foam cut outs

That would be fine for a tool box but poly foam is rigid, for a travel case you want something that gives to cushion the contents from impact and vibration.
