Price Range - looking at buying 87 Skamp popup

Way too much. I overpaid at 2500 because of lack of offerings in Alberta. In fact me and another member ended up looking at the same unit. Also a 30 year old Starcraft. It needed significant work. I am into it for 3500 with new canvas, fantastic fan, and some roof repair.

Why did you choose your specific pop-up camper?

Should have mentioned I bought mine based on availability and price. Around here (Rockies-Canada) these or any kind of pop-up are few and far between to get used.

Why did you choose your specific pop-up camper?

I have a used Starcraft, 1985 model. Its old, wood, wood frame. I replaced the canvas, removed the fridge and overhead storage above the sink counter. Removed the old inverter/converter combo. Rebuilt the roof, and other items. The price was right, new these things are nuts for what you get...

    My Journey

Congrats on the new truck and camper. Someone mentioned your emotion when discussing the Renegade, I could also tell you seemed unhappy with it. Glad you made the change, and bought a Ford to haul that camper, hope it treats you and the dogs well.

Another oldie. 1990's F250-7.5l, 5 speed. Sas'd. Rear disc brake conversion. 38x14.50 Toyo MT's, 4.56 with a Detroit in the rear. Homemade trailer with an older Starcraft 1980's. New canvas all around. Me and my wife really like this. It was a nice upgrade from sleeping under a topper...

    hardsided popup roof lift options

Check out axle stands. For garages. They usually have tri-pod design with threaded shaft that can be raised or lowered with a big wingnut type handle. Don't know if you can get 30" out of one tho. They have varying heights.

Linear Actuators - Anyone replace the Torsion with them?

actuator link I cannot remember the amazon link. My apologies. I have since been distracted with many other things on the rig. The HECO works well enough for now, properly adjusted it goes up and down with two fingers on the crank.

    Camper and Truck Photos

Just a few miles north of you my friend. Alberta, new gov. just making a mess of this province. I might have to start coming back to Montana, the people sure are awesome and less government fingers in my recreation time.

    Camper and Truck Photos

Just another pic. So many cool trucks. The government where I live is trying to close the slopes of our mountains to random camping so they can install concrete campgrounds and reserve sites. Very sad.

    060s skamper roof repair

Sheeeeit. Thats an '**************** roof. I have a repair thread here somewhere on an old tin roof as well. (tame in comparisson) Without properly reinforcing the corners the torsion lift will tear your handy-work apart in no time. Connecting the brackets is a great idea! Looks like your aluminum...

    My Journey

Jerry, wonderful thread. I have read the whole shooting match this week. My friends Bigfoot made your thread, the neato 4x4. Really appreciate the time you have taken here, just awesome. I describe your thread to the missus and my interest in it. I think she can see some distant plans...

    A Hawk in the Arctic

Only pic I have of the insulation. Sure works good. Doesn't win any beauty contests but cuts the furnace cycles in half during the night and easily 50% less condensation. Oh, and I light the camper with 4 led strips, you can see one in the pic, and the reflective helps with the lighting!

    A Hawk in the Arctic

Our last trip was 0 degrees celcius daytime and -5 ish overnight. We use some dollarstore automotive reflective sun shields as the oversize ones tuck into the hardwall and fit snugly to the roof. Using these (15 dollars total for 5), our furnace only runs half the time it would without the...

    Starcraft pine mountain starmate

Doods right, I have also completely rebuild the front and rear of the roof. The previous owner hit his house with it and caused some significant damage. I took some ideas from another member here and used poly deck boarding, all plastic, no more rot. I also had the canvas completely replaced...
