New R50 Pathfinder Part 2 with Pics. Donkey

Looking good. I did the visual lift on mine as well(removed the running boards), gives you a solid 2" "visual lift" :D. I left my mud flaps on, and haven't managed to rip them off yet. I do scrape them on rocks constantly though, so they are probably going soon. That is a steal for a set of...

Link to a photo timeline(taken every 10 seconds) of our run this past weekend, taken by the 4runner driving behind me. Great times. The last part of the video is going up a trail called "trickle". To get some experience the trail guide of the day asked me to lead that run, which is why the...

R50 Nissan Pathfinder vs. Gen3 Mitsubishi Montero vs. Gen3 Toyota 4Runner

Are you asking about the montero or the montero sport? Totally different rigs so just wanted to clarify. Search for my build thread. I went from a 330i BMW and was looking at the three trucks you mentioned. I opted for the pathfinder due to availability, but honestly I feel like I got lucky. It...

To lift or not to lift my R50? Is it worth it?

For whatever it is worth, even if I didn't wheel mine I would like it better with the lift. I have the 4x4 Parts 2" lift(the one that some people complain is too stiff and complain of strut topout with). It rides better on the highway, can handle actually having people and cargo in it without...

Good to know thanks! I'm hoping this design alleviates some of that, as the entire link will be removed except for the small ball joint end. I'm going to try to find a way to swing both ends up and attach them inside the wheel wells to keep the bar out of the way, will definitely let you know...

Heavy duty lower trailing arms have been fabricated, painted, and installed. (no pictures of painted and installed...Sorry...) It isn't pretty, but it should hold up well. I also installed poly bushings in the uppers at the same time...man what a PIA of a project! I also fabricated some...

Latest updates: Two weekends ago I replaced the starter and removed the rear swaybar. The starter was an absolute pain in the @$$, it is three bolts and one connector and it took every minute of 3 hours to do...borderline infuriating. Removing the rear sway bar, was of course, cake. These...

Pre Trip Report: Have been having some intermittant issues with a CEL, and with emissions coming due next month thought I would try to tackle it. The codes I was getting consitantly was a po1140, with intermittant post cat O2 and P420 codes as well. I went ahead and replaced the passenger side...

    My 2001 Pathfinder (R50 ) mild/budget build

Thanks for the trip report Stoic! Your "preamble" resonates with me all too much. I've got a camping trip planned for next weekend and it can't get here soon enough. I've come to realize if I don't get out into the woods every couple of months I start getting angry. Working in a big city...

I am sorry to report I was unable to find the source of the noise today. In fairness, I really didn't try too hard as the weather was below freezing-again. I don't know why every time I decide to work on this truck the weather has to be sub freezing, but I guess that's just the way it rolls...

Rebelord, that is very good to know thanks for volunteering that information. I have decided to pass on the 140.00 disconnects(after shipping), and instead will be trying to make my own. I can source all the components for both sides for $40.00, so to me that is worth the time and the gamble...

    R50 Pathfinder - mild build

That thing looks GREAT! Really digging those 33's, I'm kicking myself majorly for going with 31's....

Excellent point Co-Opski. Currently i'm mainly wheeling in a group, and at least 50% of the guys have winches so getting un stuck hasn't proven to be a major issue(yet!). I went ahead and placed the order on amazon for a CB radio setup, and have an inquiry out to 4x4parts.com on how much the...

Rock sliders are pricey(350ish). Right now I can either afford Swaybar disconnects(rear), and cb radio setup, center skid from 4x4 parts, or rock sliders. I will eventually get all of the above but for now it is a tough decision!!

Trip Report: Left for York PA to stay with some family on Friday evening. It would normally be about a 2 hour drive but with the traffic on the beltway and the rain it pushed it to closer to 3. No matter, we arrived in without incident. The first thing I noticed is when it is loaded down the...

Thanks. I have upper camber bolts already installed, maybe I need to install lower as well? With regard to the rack, I suppose it's possible but you'd think I would have noticed that before the lift, I had the exact same tires on before the lift and it drove fine. In fact the steering wheel...

They can't seem to get the steering wheel straight, it was left now it is right. The caster is out and they say it's not adjustable. It is "difficult" to drive on the highway-just doesn't feel right, it feels like the steering wheel won't fully center, it is always drifting slight left or slight...

Quick update: after the shop tried again to align it, it still isn't right. I'll live with it until after I install one new(used oem) axle to replace previously installed pep boys axle, and I will replace ball joints at the same time. I also found I've got some cancer brewing under both rear...
