ARB 50Q Lid in hatch style vehicles

I like the idea of a gas strut or bungee. I pull the lid. Problem is, when camping, there are often several people who access the fridge. Its easy enough to pop it once you've done it a few times, but its not easy to explain, so you end up having to come over and help them every time someone...

ARB 50Q Lid in hatch style vehicles

I'm sorry if this has been covered. I searched but couldn't find a specific thread about ARB fridge lids. It may be because there isn't anything you can do about it. My issue stems from my 99 4Runner and 50Q ARB fridge (new style). I built a slide for it, and that is fine. However, I...

USA's new energy plan and Federal Land

Wow! A whole two pages of a semi political thread and its civil, funny, and pretty level headed!!! I think we may have just broke the interwebs!!! LOL. I agree with most of what was said here to be sure. In particular, this new energy plan is designed to make lots of money for the fossil...

Load range E on a tacoma?

Not a Tacoma, but the E rated KO2's on my 4Runner are a lot rougher than the P or even the D range tires. I'm sure it varies from tire to tire and from size to size. I can't stand a firm ride, however, so I'm more sensitive to it than others.

Will a Coleman Octagon tent keep sand out while beach camping?

Where did you get that awning?

    Which 4 season tent?

mine is the old sierra designs 3/4 season convertible. Also not made any more. When it was just me, it was the perfect tent. In the desert, zip it up, and it was too hot, but not sandy. In the rockies, just unzip enough to be comfy, and can be zipped during the night as temps drop. Always...

    Which 4 season tent?

We've used those in the field. They are nice at -40, but when its between 0 and 32 F, they start to become unbearably hot (if its sunny). Its an oven, so they are named appropriately :D They are nice and spacious inside for one person with a lot of gear. You can make them into little...

    Am I crazy: 1993 4Runner with a 5VZE-FE 3.4L + A340F swap

With the Auto. 5 speeds are pretty peppy. Quick fix is supercharging. Mine gets up out of its own way now.

Question from a soon to be overlander

Few points: 1. A rear bumper and tire carrier sound cool, and look cool, and work well offroad. Day to day, mine is a pain. I'd put it last on the list of things to do. 2. Benc is correct. A real bull bar will help you a lot in a crash. I have some real world examples, from my father...

    1999 4Runner SR5-Baby Beast 2

Update is that the leak was fixed by stuffing the entire shifter full of silicone and then reassembling it and putting it back onto the tcase. The breather did not work at all. Very happy with the gearing. I think the bearing in the MC09 needs to be replaced, so I hope to get to that soon...

BFGoodrich AT KO2, Initial impressions and hopefully long term report

They are much better than the originals. I had the exact same tire in the original KO before I got the KO2's and it was night and day difference. I had the snow rated ones in the original as well. WAY more siping on the KO2, and I've been much happier in the colorado snow with the KO2s. They...

4Runner better drive quality than Tacoma. Need advice

People pretty much nailed it here. 4runner has coils and more weight over the rear axle. One thing that was not brought up, and I can't speak to the new tacos (2005+) but at least with the older trucks and first gen tacos, the 4runner has better shock placement: further outboard. Helps damp...

BFGoodrich AT KO2, Initial impressions and hopefully long term report

They are great on the trail. As expected, they aren't awesome in mud. On rocks and dirt, they have excelled. Gettin it done in South Dakota. Lots of sharp rocks, lots of sidewall rash, and some quarter rash. No punctures. and also on Blanca Peak, Colorado. Again, big rocks, lots of...

    1999 4Runner SR5-Baby Beast 2

Yup, just as Trophycummins said, 2.28. Sorry for the confusion. I cobbled my dual case together from various places. I got a Marlin MC09 adapter second hand, and bought the inchworm transmission to transfer adapter. I bought a 23 spline turbo truck transfercase and used the low range gears...

    1999 4Runner SR5-Baby Beast 2

Stock gears in the tcase. I have an inchworm transmission adapter and wish I'd waited for Marlins. Marlin was out of stock due to machining issues, so I went with Inchworm. Their transmission adapter fits about 8 models of trucks so it has tons of holes. This means you have to try to plug up all...

    1999 4Runner SR5-Baby Beast 2

No. The LC dial doesn't fit in a factory hole and they use a picture rather than text. If I was to do it over I might go that route though

    1999 4Runner SR5-Baby Beast 2

I got the control arms from Toytech. They are okay. I had to remove the bushings and weld in factory ones because they squeaked so bad, so I'm not sure if I'd recommend them. If I remember correctly, the front was 200 to retube longer, and the rear was 150 as it only needed to be cut...
